Ashes to Ashes Series 3 (may contain Spoilers)

I just hope they didnt consider what they were doing to be dancing.

anyways I trust I was not the only one to notice the musical cue "Girl with the mousey hair" on Shaza at the end, makes me wonder if it could have applied to Annie as well.

I noticed that the Sing-A-Long episode was up and then I realized that the actual show was delayed to next week. Is there something going on in the UK this week or something?

Where is there a good link to a synopsis of the story so far? (I don't get BBC America so there's no way for me to see this show. :( )

In a nutshell. Alex Drake was Sam Tyler's psychologist and learned about his "coma-adventures". In 2008, she gets shot tracking down her daughter's kidnappers and is set to the 80s. The first series was about her tragic past, where she learns that her father blew himself and her mother up in a jealous rage.

The second series was about her getting back to her daughter, and the issue is confused by the fact that she meets another cop who has managed to enter her dream/travel back in time. So the question becomes whether or not Gene Hunt-verse is actually some kind of alternate reality or perhaps a form of purgatory rather than just a simple coma dream.

The third series, I would assume, will try to answer the question of what exactly the Gene Hunt-verse is once and for all.

Another question: Is Philip Glenister (who plays Gene) related to Robert Glenister (who I just saw on L&O:UK)? They do look a lot alike. Are they brothers?

Just caught it the other day, the reset at the beginning was too quick, but I still enjoyed having the gang back. The new guy reallllly creeps me out though.

Type 'byelittlelady' into youtube if you need to catch up, some parts may be hosted elsewhere due to the UMG killing parts that have copywritten music in them.

Yes, they're brothers. Robert is also in Spooks and Hustle.

Firehawk it wasn't delayed till next week, the HD version was postponed thanks to the Golf but the SD version aired as normal.

Something called "The Masters" kicked it into touch. We were all ready to sing along too.

Enjoyed this episode. Was watching it with two people who have never seen any A2A. They were laughing away at Hunt's one liners so I think I might have converted two more.

I thought the solution to the crime of the week was a little too pat but it's difficult to pack everything they're trying to do into one hour. I have to say Shaz was so irritating I was hoping she would be leaving.

I was expecting the murder would be the woman running the agency cos I thought it was too obvious that it'd be who they expected... So I was sort of surprised by it...

yes that was odd, she was the one person who was easily linked to all the citys, also why did she not spot the same bloke signing up in different citys.

"Ray? What are you doing here?" "I work here." "You said you were a soldier."

I always think of that scene in the fish shop when I see Ray.

I just saw the episode. It was really top notch. If This season continues in this vein, it will be the best series yet.

The uptown girl bit was funny, but the speed dating scenes were almost as classic.

It was nice to see Shaz get some development, and what was up that lingering stare and Life on Mars music clue? Seriously, my head exploded, anyone have any clues? I'm not even going to think about the mysterious weather vane yet.

far more interesting is Alexs world seemingly running out of space, showing just stars and nothing else, as if there is a limit to what exisits.

The space thing reminded me of "Dark City".
What is going on with Shaz and that music. Are we getting closer to "Life on Mars", are things starting to merge?

Cos Gene and Jim look so alike I keep thinking Gene is his father and that Jim is pissed off at him for whatever happened in the family.

does that mean that Shaz merges with Anne Cartwright, and Shaz represents to Alex, what Anne represented to Sam? Alex gender being responsible for the rewriting of the Anne character into Shaz.

^

Or perhaps that Shaz and others have traveled to the Hunt-verse, much as sam, alex, and that summers guy from last series.

I had a theory based on Life on Mars, that its the test card girl who is to blame, she is using her Test Card Girl powers to make TV, all of this (like all TV) is her creation.

Who is to say its even the "Gene Hunt verse" it could be the verse of any of the characters who appeared in both shows.

At this point, I don't claim to really know anything, It's all speculation obviously. If it is a verse of someone, it's likely to be Hunt I would think. The creators have certainly hyped that we will find out who Hunt really is, if there is such a thing to know.

I suspect that time travel or a alternate universe have to come into play at this point, although back in the life on mars days I easily put it down as just being a coma. Some people are saying it's an afterlife or purgatory, but people say that about every show or movie that is surreal, so I doubt that's it. It may be a combo of all of that.

Picking at straws I tell you, it's madness. Mostly I'm just not over thinking it and enjoying the last episodes as the fine escapist entertainment this show is. :techman:
