I voted for Buffy and would go in descending order of greatness;

1. Buffy
2. Angel
3. Dollhouse
4. Firefly

Amazing Firefly has such a following considering it's the shortest lived of all the series by some margin

There's a strong case to be made that Dollhouse only got season 2 because Fox thought it might be another Firefly. Sadly it was not quite that good.

Angel
Firefly
Buffy

Can't say anything about Dollhouse, but I'm guessing it's nowhere near the quality of those other shows, overall.

Purely from a quality standpoint, Firefly would win but it has too few episodes to be rated against the other two which had hundreds of episodes as opposed to 13.

Firefly by a mile. Then Angel and Buffy with Dollhouse a ways behind. If Dollhouse had been as good as the majority of the second season for its entire run, it would be up with Angel and Buffy.

Firefly mostly wins because the cast clicked so well from day one, and there weren't any bad script, or even just 'passable' scripts. Everyone brought their A-game straight out of the gate and it makes them infinitely more charming and rewatchable as a whole than any of the other 3 series.

My head is saying Firefly, but my heart is saying Buffy. It was a big part of my life. Any show which does 'Hush' or 'The Body' has to be recognised as a television classic.

I find it so hard to choose a favourite. The guy's shows are pretty consistently great.
I voted Firefly because I've only seen the first 3 seasons of Buffy, and only the first season of Angel. Saw all of Dollhouse, and read all the transcripts of Angel, but I'd actually say Buffy was tied with Firefly because I loved Season 3 so much (Mayor Wilkins!).

As a whole series in its entirety, Angel.

However, part of what made Angel so great is of course due to the character's origins on Buffy The Vampire Slayer which was equally amazing, if not moreso... even if it did run a season or so too long.

Angel isn't even on my radar - it was witty occasionally, but aimless and only a few of the characters were really appealing. They really didn't seem to know what they were doing with that show from week to week.

I completely disagree. It has some of the best characters and story arcs of any show I've ever seen.

I want to say Angel, Buffy, Firefly then Dollhouse...but Firefly made such an enormous impression with just a mere handful of episodes that in my eyes it totally outshone the others. All of which needed a full season or two to properly hit their stride and find a good balance of story and characters. Firefly just came storming out of the gate that it instantly had the feeling of a show that had been on for years.

While I loved all of the shows on the list, I went with Firefly as being my all-time Whedon favorite. It's the one series that I continue to watch and rewatch (along with the movie). There's something about Firefly that just "speaks" to me.

Personally I think Dollhose got a second season on the strength of the Echo as a Dominatrix scene:lol:

Don't knock Angel;TS, season 4 especially was great and it had some wonderful character development especially with Cordy and Wes. I never really got Firefly, it's by far my least favourite of the 4 series, astonishing how die hard it's fans are.
Anyway, strengths and weaknesses of Dollhouse discussed in my ep by ep review on this forum (Buffy and Angel to follow)

I would go with Buffy. I feel Angel was the more consistent of the two shows but it never came close Buffy's highs. Also, Gunn is a really boring character.

Firefly was my introduction to the Whedonverse.

Dollhouse is the only Whedon show I don't love. I like it, but I'm not rushing off to buy the DVDs.

Gunn is a great character but too often restricted to the role of 'The Muscle'. In season 5 he's given more to do and it suits him (no pun intended)

And yet I realized Dennis' description is pretty much exactly how I feel about the last 3 seasons.

IDIC, baby! :)

It depends when you ask me. Usually Angel, but sometimes Buffy or Firefly. They are all so good. Dollhouse, not on their level, but still commendable, worth having in the library, and better than most of what is on TV.

More TV, Joss.
