Absolutely loved it; Matt Smith was great; though I always had this feeling he would be. Not too sure about the Tardis interior, especially the central column.

On a different note, I have fallen in love with Amy Pond; ****.

I'm reminded of the 8th Doctor's TARDIS in a way, with that large central column. But the thingy that moves up and down in the column is classic Who right there, shaped differently of course. I like that he mentioned a Swimming Pool, hehe, cause there is one! I liked the new look, not as robot as the original, but definitely feels better than the organic one did! I like it a lot better than 9 and 10's, a lot. Hope we get to see more rooms and stuff inside this season.

Amazing episode!

Matt Smith nailed it as The Doctor, and Amy is the hottest companion so far. I also think she's smarter than Rose. I really liked her.

Wasn't keen on the new theme tweak. Not keen on the TARDIS interior either. Looks too much like a circus tent to me.

But the story, plotting and dialogue were far better than RTD episodes.

My favorite bit of all was in the Confidential, just prior to the table read:

"Let's go around the room and say our names -- because I never tire of saying 'I'm Stephen Moffat and I'm the executive producer and head writer of Doctor Who'."

:)

Oooh, got some new toys do you?

Thought the wandering, scanning camera view while the Doc, Amy, and her 'boyfriend' were out on the common was rather neat. Is that how the Doctor normally sees the world I wonder?

So far so good. I'm liking Matt Smith and his portrayal of the Doctor which kind of reminds me in some ways of the Ninth Doctor. How he puts on this care-free, full-of-life front, using it to hide some other side of him that isn't too pretty and is something he doesn't like to dwell on. I'm thinking the Doctor lied to Emily about there being no reason why he picked her to be his companion other than him being lonely. The real reason may be connected to the mysterious crack in space-time that allowed Prisoner 0 to escape. And is me or did the show just underwent a fourteen-year flashforward?

Well, maybe. Depends on whether or not the Doctor and Amelia met in 2005 (which was the year the TARDIS took off from at the end of "The End of Time, Part Two").

Even if it did, though, most of Series Four and the specials took place 'round abouts 2009-2010. (I think the going theory is that "The End of Time, Part One" and most of "Part Two" took place on Christmas 2009.) If the show jumped 14 years from 2005, that means it's now set in 2019 -- only 9 years from where we were.

I loved this episode, a different feel from the last two doctors, feels more classic in a way, love it. I love the new TARDIS interior, even has a view screen which past TARDIS's have had. He mentioned the library and the swimming pool quite a bit, maybe we'll actually get to see more of the TARDIS finally. A lot of throwbacks to the original Who is what I'm seeing, and I like it.

Love the companion, and I don't think she is in love with the Doctor, seems more like a friend to me, she just seems like a horny young girl who doesn't mind looking at cute boys, heh. I don't see any love relationships developing thank goodness. I think she'll make a great companion, and she really is quite cute.

Gets a Geronimo! from me.

She runs away with a man over whom she's been obsessed her entire life the night before her wedding to a man she was reluctant to even acknowledge as her boyfriend, and you're gonna tell me you don't think she has feelings for him?

C'mon, man.

Yeah, she used to make her boyfriends dress up like him (presumably in bed) for crying out loud. At the very least, she has a sexual fixation with him.

Yep she asked if he could take her back before Tomorrow, the wedding.

I don't think she LOVES him. I think she is intrigued about the possibility of running away from a bad home life. Maybe she just isn't happy with her life and wants change and excitement. It doesn't have to be love for the man that is drawing her away.

Yeah -- after she's seen him take off for what was only supposed to be a few minutes and then only rematerialize years later. Twice. She knows full well by that point that his promises of being able to return on time aren't reliable.

I don't think she LOVES him.

And how do you define "LOVING" someone? As opposed to having feelings for someone?

Re: Doctor Who – The 11th Hour (5x01) - (Discuss – Grade | SPOILERS) U

Infatuated maybe, doesn't have to be love.

I guess we'll find out this season, but I just don't see her being in LOVE with the guy yet.

*shrugs*

I'm still not sure what you mean by "LOVE" as opposed to whatever else.

But she certainly has feelings for him; that much is obvious. Where will that go? Who knows?

Re: Doctor Who – The 11th Hour (5x01) - (Discuss – Grade | SPOILERS) U

Again I don't think Amy is in love with the Doctor and I agree with Brent. Some people might already be comparing the Amy/Doctor/Rory thing to Rose/Doctor/Mickey but I just think that Amy is fascinated with The Doctor and yes infatuated and obsessed by this mysterious man she met as a little girl. It will be interesting to see how this dynamic turns out though.

Re: Doctor Who – The 11th Hour (5x01) - (Discuss – Grade | SPOILERS) U

The Doctor inadvertently told us why Amy is fascinated with her; he's her faerie tale. She's there for the love of adventure and escapism. Hell, that's probably why she began doing kiss-a-grams -- it allowed her to fulfill some of her fantasies and dreams, even if compromises had to be made. She's in love with the idea of the Doctor and what he does, not the Doctor himself.

And, of course, her adventures with the Doctor will teach her why living a real life is more important than living in a fantasy world, and she'll probably wind up marrying Rory at the end of her companionship. In effect she'll have been allowed to fulfill her most fondest wish as if it were just a daydream, then continue on with her life all the wiser for it after he drops her off the day before her wedding... just like he promised. All exactly as if it were a real faerie tale.

Sorry but no.

Although I was born in Farmworth and left when I was two for America.

Lol I still eat beans on toast. It's weird really being asian.

:wtf:

So after the Tonight Show debacle, Conan O'Brien really did get a series after all :)

Anyway, brief review:

-hated the theme at first, but it's grown on me. It almost definitely samples "Trial of a Time Lord."

-I have to rewatch the episode as some of the dialogue zoomed by, dialogue that was pretty funny and clever to start.

-David who?

-Better intro than 9 or 10's by far

Re: Doctor Who – The 11th Hour (5x01) - (Discuss – Grade | SPOILERS) U

Goddamn that was awesome. And it was quite the uphill battle, too, what with all the things I didn't like that were leaking out ahead of time. The Prisoner Zero plot was pretty pedestrian, but every other aspect of the story, characters, editing, writing and that ineffable Moffet mythic power was so spot on that I was cheering the whole way through. Fantastic.

Re: Doctor Who – The 11th Hour (5x01) - (Discuss – Grade | SPOILERS) U

Checkmate I agree with your assessment of the Doctor and Amy's relationship...from episode synopsis that i've read on the Doctor Who wiki for later episode it seems that
Amy does marry Rory and has a child

The spoiler was in the wikipedia article for one of the episodes after River's appearance I can't remember the name of it now.
