So if I subscribe for one month, I get to play for 2 months, right? With the free 30 days.

Yeap, you get the first 30 days free then they will charge you on the day that sub runs out for whatever subscription tier you picked(Month,3 months, six months, etc).

Oh, definitely. The Intrepid class is becoming more fun than my Galaxy class.

Be careful if you do any PvP today (Saturday 3/27/10) as there's a nastyt bug after last night's patch that will de-level you after a PvP match on the 'Cracked Planet' or 'Shantytown' maps (and maybe more).

Devs are aware and working on afix for this (and a way to restore any affected player character) - but PvP is probably not a good option atm.

Interesting bug. Does this mean STO has implemented de-leveling as some kind of death penalty or plans to do so?

I have to admit I kinda like that idea. It gives you more incentive to survive :D.

The game finally got me. My 10 day trial expires tomorrow, but I just got my new ship, so gotta play with it! Just bought the full version :)

I might be canceling my subscription. I've really enjoyed the game for the most part, but today's experience has completely turned me off it.

I spent 3+ hours playing The Big Dig mission. I died and respawned... into a frickin' pole. I couldn't move and /stuck wouldn't work. I was also invisible to the enemy and unaffected by nearby explosions and fire so I couldn't die and respawn again. I submitted a bug report hoping a GM would pop in (like in CoH/CoV) but no luck. As a last resort I beamed up to my ship but when I beamed back down it was a different instance and I couldn't switch to the right one. (Yes, I could have just stayed there in the pole, but I didn't know how much longer the mission was and I didn't want to be a mooch off everyone else's efforts.) As it turned out, my teammates and other players finished the mission roughly 45 minutes after I initially became stuck. I did not get any reward or mission complete. According to my teammates, the final player scores showed me far and away the best player with 38,439 points to second place's 30,119.

Obviously I am extremely pissed off that I was robbed of both my time and the mission reward due to a glitch. I submitted a ticket (and posted in the STO forums) asking to receive the mission xp and reward but have yet to receive any response. My subscription is up for renewal on 4/4. If I don't get a satisfactory response this week, I will cancel my subscription. :(

by all accounts that misson has been known as bugged. apperently it was fixed tried it myself yesterday completed it then got no reward or anything. Will try it again once I know it's ok

I know how you feel Dent:

Jumping to another instance got me free, but then i couldn't return to the instance where the rest of the team was...

Had a similar issue last night while doing the Fire Caves mission (except I didn't materialise inside anything, I just got rooted to the spot). I logged out and then immediately logged back in again (as if I'd been disconnected) and returned to the exact moment I logged off, but was now free.

On another note I've been getting used to the differance between a Cruiser and an Escort. That's one hell of a change in tactics you have to use!

I really don't like that idea and think the death penalty in general is a crap idea.

^^^Yeah i don't like the sound of a DP either, and going by whats been exploding on their official forums, it seems all those that want it for all as mandatory are those who are sitting in uber ships and the top level who know the game inside out....seems now they have had their fun they want everybody else to struggle reaching their levels....what was it one said..."I would love to see the casual scum removed from this game, DP will be able to do that, then the real players can start to enjoy the game without the one button bashers who come on for a hour and sit hitting one button".

What a mentality, anyway i think Cryptic are going with the DP as optional, which has not gone down to well with those wanting it mandatory for all.

I haven't played for a long time. Do the Bridge officers still get stuck in the Fire Caves? I remember having to solo it by using the option to call generic security officers to my location.

Oh, I'm sorry Queen Marie Antoinette. But I don't live in my mom's basement and I don't have her still around to do my laundry and to cook all my dinners for me so an hour every other day or so is all the time I have to play this game. So forgive me if a death penalty will send me back to Ensign faster than my current rate of progression toward Lt. Commander 2 at this point.

I hate primadonnas like that who think it's their way or the highway. The best option is for Cryptic to just incorporate a difficulty slider where the player can chose if they want a death penalty or not. I don't have enough time in my day for one. Apparently some basement dwellers do.

I am a longtime gamer, and I think if they want to implement a death penalty, it should be a timed debuff and no more.

Good luck getting a response on the forums if you arent a lifetime subscriber. Cryptic made it quite clear this weekend that if youre not a LTS, they dont want to hear from you.

Difficulty slider would be acceptable for me, too. I don't even like the idea of a DP because of the nature of this particular game.

No need for a death penalty, even if it would remove some from STO. With a dynamic difficulty slider, why bother with a DP?
Any idea on whether the Intrepid is to be prefered over the two other options(Cochrane,Discovery)?

I'm currently LtCmdr 7, almost at 8. My current profile is an Engineer, and I've spec'd him accordingly, with a Cruiser ship. When I get to Commander, I'm planning on changing from a Cruiser to an Escort. Should I respec my Engineering officer to a Tactical ship commander?
