Is it me or has House Season 6 been a series of whimpers lately?

Season 6 went off to a great start with the two-hour premiere involving House in a mental asylum. But the episodes that followed the premiere have been lacking something more and more with each passing episode. Other than House and maybe Wilson, the other characters have become less likeable and more annoying as fundmentally broken human beings who overcompensate by constantly psycho-analyzing each other. The arc with Chase killing a patient caused one spark of interest but the spark went out as just as quickly as it was lit. I hated that Chase and Cameron split over it and that Chase has become this zombie with a horrible haircut. And the endless romantic tension dance between House and Wilson no longer engages my interest. In fact, I was more a fan of the Chase/Cameron relationship than any other relationship on the show. I kinda wished the show had ended with Season 5.

What do you think?

To be honest, I haven't even watched the last two episodes. Granted, I have a lot of school work to do, but I'm not even worried about it anymore.

It has gotten a bit bland, lately.

These first two episodes back after the break have been pretty lackluster, yeah.

Wasn't the Cuddy episode only 3 episodes ago? It was pretty good.

I'm trying to remember if this season is any worse than last season. The only thing I can really remember about Season 5 was House's spiral towards the end there, that and his preventing Wilson from career suicide (also a good episode).

I think this season has had some strong episodes but agree, the last couple have been pretty lame.

This season has been up and down but for the most part I've liked it. It's had some good episode but, yeah, I wouldn't say the season has been up to the show's usual caliber.

Wait... what?! Despite the silly HoYay! some read into the House/Wilson friendship I don't think there's ever been any "romantic tension" between House and Wilson. They're just two good friends.

I'm guessing instead of Wilson you meant "Cuddy"?

;)

I watched this weeks and not last weeks. Doesn't seem I had missed anything. It's in the same boat as Bones, just wondering around with no where to go. They really should have spent at least half the season in the crazy house.

Don't you know? Every male friendly or brotherly relationship in media is secretly a full-on fag fest. At least if you ask people on an Internet message forum.

I don't find the show to be as fresh as it once was, but I still enjoy watching it. I was laughing out loud at some of the humor in last weeks episode.

I think "bromantic tension" would be a better description for those two.

Offensive language aside, the guy's got a point. From Kirk and Spock to Joey and Chandler, no two guys can just be friends. Everyone's got to be gay.

Wilson especially couldn't be more straight if he tried.

Actually, I think the House/Wilson Ho!Yay has at times been pretty blatant, and TPTB admit themselves to deliberately playing it up. There's plenty of subtext there which isn't any more of a reach than het ships in plenty of shows. And I say this as a badge-wearing Huddy fan.

When I was saying the endless romantic tension between House and Wilson, I meant Cuddy not Wilson because I was typing too fast.

It's just that in the beginning, we've been led to believe there was the feeling of something more going on between House and Cameron. But all of sudden, in Season 3, we went from House and Cameron to House and Cuddy and it was made to look like Cuddy always had these feelings for House since she was a student in his class. I just hated how the romantic tension between them was over-prolonged and miserably unresolved with the creators pullling out every obstacle they can think of to keep them apart to maintain the view of House as a miserable, damaged human incapable of having a healthy relationship. The only romantic pairing I did like involving House was the House/Stacy pairing.

After season 5 our household agreed that would be the last we watched. It was past its prime then.

I finally stopped watching House after the third or so episode of this season. It is just too boring ...

Agreed. I so wished that had been the series finale.

By the end of the premiere, House isn't a completely changed or cured man but at least he's taking the first steps towards leading a better life and that's something, especially for him.

We've seen "hints" of his reform sense then.
