Young women and older men....

My dad was 40 and my mom was 17 when they got married and things worked out OK for them. I really think it depends on the individuals involved.

Until I got married (when I was 34) I always dated younger, much younger women (19-20-21). We each got what we wanted. They got to live at my nice beach condo in Pacific Beach, and I got to have sex with young wild women. Symbiotic, is that the word?

Nothing was cooler than strutting down by the beach with my sexy girlfriend and living it up, because EVERYONE knew what we were both getting out of it. So whats wrong with that???

But then...I turned 40. Hot wild sex, while still enjoyable, was losing out to my desire to have kids. So I married my wife, she was 32 to my 34, and the rest is history. Thankfully my wife had once been a stripper so the 'hot sex' was still there IF I wanted it...so it all worked out.

But...ohhhhhh...what memories I have of those days. So if you're a dude and your in your early 30s, live it up and take the sex if they offer it. When you die, and if you make it to the great beyond, you should have a really hot highlight reel for your buds to watch in heaven.

I'm having trouble following you. When you were 34 you got married, but you fooled around until you were 40 and wanted to have kids, so you got married at 34?

A 30 year old dating a 15 year old however is a serious offense.

Unless it's a female teacher who is 30 and her male student is 15. Then it's a "love story" that makes magazine covers.

No, it's still a serious offense.

It is a serious offense, but I'm saying there's a double standard when it comes to how people respond to it. If the guy was the adult and the girl was the minor, they certainly wouldn't be making the talk show rounds and posing for magazine articles:

Don't take this wrong, but were they married in the U.S. or Canada? That's a pretty big age difference for someone so young.
They were married here in the States, Colorado to be precise. It always struck me as a pretty big age difference as well, but maybe things were different back in the 50's.

When I was younger I dated a few older men because I thought they were more mature then men my own age. However, I learned that no matter what the age most men do not ever mature...lol

What's your definition of "mature" ?

I've come across way too many people equate "maturity" with following a script - school, university, job, marriage, mortgage, kids, retirement, death - all with target dates.

Better to be immature, methinks.

My definition of "mature" is responsible, intelligent, stable.

I was forced to accept adult responsibilities at the very young age of 10. By the time I was a teenager I had a hard time dealing with a lot of peers my own age. Dating was very tring to me so I would mostly date men in college hoping to find someone that knew what responsibility was. There was only one guy in high school that I was ever attracted to. Not only was he very intelligent but very handsome (which is a bonus in my opinion!) He was at the maturity level that I always sought to find. Fortunately, my high school crush and I reconnected and are now engaged to be married. It is very refreshing to be with someone that has enough intellect to understand my sarcastic ways :)

Yeah...I just read that, and so did the MRS. Let me restate that...

I was married when I was 34. From 30-34 I dated women ages 18-18-20-21...(this part my wife is not reading). But when I reached 34 I decided i wanted kids so I met my wife..five months later we tied the not...

Yeah, but PB is kind of dumpy. Then again I hit 30 in just over another year, and I don't think I'll be affording La Jolla anytime soon :(

I don't think those things necessary equal maturity. But holding down a steady job, being sensible about one's income, etc. all can show a certain type of maturity? Or maybe a sense of responsibility, which someone else finds desirable.

That's a perfectly sensible definition, shame some people ignore it and just say "you're a grown man/woman who still..." followed by something they personally disapprove of. "You're a grown man who still plays video games" or "you're a grown woman who still doesn't have a boyfriend" etc etc etc.

The worst are people who equate not wanting to get married and/or have children with immaturity.

Eh there are plenty of people that are idiots as well as those who shouldn't have gotten married and shouldn't have children. They can disapprove of us and we can disapprove of them. My line of thinking is more like this xkcd comic:

You focus too much on negative stuff. I read that one and it made me sad, so I just ignored it.

I'm incapable of pretending I'm happy, sure.

The cartoon was sad, doesn't mean it wasn't also clever, funny and creative.

Meh. You know she'll boot him out as soon as he's 18. Then it's back to the schoolyard!
