Kirk/William Shatner Apprecation Thread

He'll probably outlive all of us.

Heh..........

The Shat; he knows that he'll never die as long as his friends are around. ;)
Isnt that what Kirk said in Final Frontier to McCoy and Spock? Yep it sure is. I was really sad when Kirk died in Generations, because he was alone even though Picard was there. I wonder how much that scene would've been different if McCoy and Spock had been there?

Just saw Shatner on the Jonathan Ross Show and he's one funny guy. Don't recall the last time I saw him in a talk show setting, but he's a pretty sharp guy.

I have just started watching TOS as Kirk is brilliant, i have only watched the first three episodes so far and the first being the cage.

Shatner just oozes coolness for me and he was made to play Kirk is what i am getting so far.

^^ agreed. But they had to recast the role for the new movie series, and i think Pine did a good job. In fact, I have no problem with the casting of the new movie at all....but to expect them to be as 'good' or as 'great' as Shatner/Nimoy ect would be a bit too much, for those who do.

The movie was a big hit, and casting had much to do with that. Nay-sayers can nay-say all they want, and threaten not to see the next movie...but I think Paramount doesn't care, and either do I.

But i agree with your post totally..

happy birthday William Shatner! When i was growing up you was my hero! Kirk got to go into space! fight the bad guys. and get all the hot looking women! what more could a man want lol love dr

Hopefully Bill can look out at the world he lives in and has influenced with all he's done and say, even at 79 years old, that 'I feel young.'

Shatner has been with most of us, if not all of us, our entire lives. From TREK, to Barbary, to the movies, TJ Hooker, Boston Legal, TEKWAR, 911, HAS BEEN album...the guy is just a phenom, more so than ANYONE associated with Star Trek. HE IS Star Trek.

So...HAPPY BIRTHDAY Bill. Most of us appreciate what you have accomplished..and for those who don't? Thats what we have phasers for right?

magnificently,

I loved him in the episode The Corbomite Maneveur Shatner was at his best in that episode any thoughts?

He was very good in that. But my personal favorite, for Kirk, was "A Taste of Armageddon." Especially his "we aren't going to kill today" speech. I also thought he was superb in "The Enemy Within" - that episode gave him a lot of scope.

Absolutely - extremely convincing, authentic, and credible. Besides, I love his low-key ways in COTEOF, and his humorous facet in Tribbles. Shatner made Kirk the multi-layered personality we've come to love and admire.
