Chavez is looking terrible. He gave up a grand slam today. I doubt he'll be on the opening day roster.

On the other hand, Brooks Conrad (who I liked a lot more than most of the daily players last year) is on fire.

Any other takers for the Fantasy Baseball league? Have 5 spots to fill in the yearly league, and one spot available in the Keeper League. PM me if you're interested...

Crap! Joe Nathan has a torn ligament in his arm and may have to have surgery. If the Twins lose him, it'll really hurt their chances. The rest of their relievers are average at best- I can't see any of them taking over the closer role.

That's a pretty big ding to the twinkies' hopes. Nathan's a big part of that team. Figured it was something like this, the way the news was coming out. He told the media at the time that it was nothing, no big deal, even...

If it's Tommy John surgery, like mentioned, he could come back just as strong, but probably not before middle of 2011 season, at the earliest. It's about a year before they can compete at ANY level, and 18 months, on average, for a return to former ability. Sorry, Pegs...

News: Nomar Garciaparra signed with the Red Sox (1-day minor league deal) and then announced his retirement. Will be joining ESPN for some announcing/comentator work.

Nice, feel-good move, to retire with the Sox :)

Yep! It's great to see him back, of course just to retire, and to see him and the organization mend their relationship.:techman::techman:

Why do players retire this young? He's not that old, is he? Is he injured or something?

It's like Scott Eyre...he's no sooner a free agent from the Phillies and *he* retires as well.

What's up with Torii Hunter? I hear he just claimed that black Latino ballplayers are "imposters" and somehow "don't count" when determining how many African-Americans there are in MLB.

What's up with that?

He'll be a hit in the locker room with his Hispanic teammates this year!

I kind of get what Torii Hunter was trying to say, but it still left me scratching my head. And I found his clarification of what he said a little perplexing as well.

Then again, he said you can pay people from the DR a bag of chips. Isn't A-Rod from the DR? Clearly there are more people from Latin America because they're better players.
