Modern Warfare2 General Thread

if i get ONE kill per match i'm happy. i've had the game three days, i know i'm not going to be uber. and i have made it to PFC 1 in THREE DAYS of owning the game. that's not that shabby. (is it?)

i'm mostly playing TDM or Domination in the war mode. at least that way i can get XP just for being there! and in domination, i get XP for flag capping if nothing else...

Yeah, don't sweat it if you find yourself having trouble early on. I think just about everyone who doesn't hack or cheat somehow has trouble when they first get going. It took me probably 30-40 levels before I noticed I was finally starting to get good.

Had a fun little moment on Highrise last night. I have SitRep, which lets you see enemy explosives and tactical insertions. I saw one guy run into the back corner of one of the buildings, and a second later I could see his tactical insertion through the wall. I threw a Semtex in there and killed him, then scooted forward, waited for him to respawn over his tactical insertion, then killed him again. Dude was probably pissed. :D

i managed 7 kills in one game last night and 5 in another. i've unlocked the grenade launcher attachment and i also now have Specialist rank. not bad for 2 hours of game-play time.

i got the Wingman accolade for most assists and one for kills firing from the hip.

Good job! Suggest you play "stick with your gun" as well. Unlocking the whole gun is harder than hell, but if you stick with it you learn it inside and out.

today my highlight was killing a Harrier in a domination match on 'derailed' (the snowy train yard map). Guy killed me once with it. i respawned and pulled out my AT4 and was trying to line up a shot and thinking 'wonder if this will work' when he killed me a second time. again i respawned nearby and pulled the AT4 out, the Harrier moved away behind a tree, facing away from me and i was trying to line up and hoping i wouldn't hit the tree when i got the lock-on tone (which chuffed me no end, i hate DFX2's AT4s not having a lock-on mode), fired and blew it away!

i'm sticking pretty religiously to the assault rifle and my M203. i'd like to unlock more add-ons like a silencer and so on...

Once you open them up Cold Blooded and Ninja are your friends. No more Harriers to worry about, Sentry guns ignore you, heartbeat sensors don't detect you. It's not Heaven-but its close.

Which assault rifle are you using? The M4 is fully automatic and thus better at close range and more newbie friendly, but learning how to use the FAMAS accurately will make you a more deadly player overall.

Amen to that, stick i silencer on the end of that weapon, add a claymore and watch your popularity soar as your message box fills up with some of the most exotic profanity you will ever have read.

If you really want to learn some new and creative phrases try lightweight/marathon/steady aim with a TAR21 w/noob tube and run counter-clockwise circles around the map the whole game at full speed.:guffaw:

i got promoted to Specialist I last night and unlocked the Red Dot Sight. how high a rank do you need to have two attachments on your rifle? i can have EITHER the rds OR the M203 but not both...

Level 20something, I think. BLING is what you're talking about-and it helps but a noob tube with Scavenger can be deadly too.

Map Pack 1 comes to Xbox Live on March 30th.

I think I read somewhere that XBL got it on a 30-day exclusive, so it should be on PSN at the end of April. Don't have a link for that though, so could be wrong.

Thank you for this!

^^It's the grenade launcher attachment that the assault rifles have. It's termed "noob tube" because of the general feeling that it's a cheap way to get lots of kills without actually having to do anything. I'll admit that I find it obnoxious and only use it in order to unlock the attachment that comes after it.

I've found that my k/d ratio suffers a lot from using the "noob tube." Seems counterintutive based on it's name, but for me it's true. When I quit farting around with it, and start concentrating on shooting better and using better overall tactics, I get better scores. I think it give some people a false sense of their ability in the game.
