It appears that at least half of the HD Trek remasters on CBS have all but disappeared and what used to be 6 pages worth is now down to 3. Seems like CBS is getting ready to cut the series from its inventory (or at least the HD remasters). Anyone know what's going on for sure? I know some of the ones they had were either unplayable or missing entirely so perhaps they're replacing them with ones that are playable... or at least I hope so.

When you say "CBS," what do you mean? Since you mention "pages," are you referring to a section of CBS's website?

I am speculating Youtube or Hulu may sign a contract to offer TOS-R with ad-supported or by subscription streaming with exclusivity

Yes, I was referring to CBS Star Trek TOS remastered HD gallery here: http://www.cbs.com/hd/?show=star_trek_remastered Originally, they had 6 pages of episodes, but there were problems such as the first 10 episodes of season 1 not streaming properly. Also, even with all 6 pages, some episodes were still missing. A week ago, they had reduced to only 3 pages but now they're back to 4. I have no idea what they're up to for sure.
As we move into the digital age it will be interesting to see where things lead. In the old days, limited channels and ratings could explain why shows disappeared but now with increased bandwidth people will have to get used to artificial strategic shortages (like the "Disney Vault").

TOS HD remasters have now disappeared from CBS. Perhaps it's temporary, or maybe they're in the process of having a paysite host them as some suggested. In any case, to me this is sad because the quality was close the Blu Rays, which I now have.

Strange... I know very well that remastered versions were available, up until just recently. The CBS site wouldn't show them in any index or searches. You'd have to go through Hulu to find them.
Anyway, just last month I'd used a few remastered episodes for screen captures in making some photo edits. Now, all of the remastered versions are gone from Hulu.
The "free" offerings on the Internet are slowly fading away. I wouldn't be surprised if we'll be paying Google for GMail services in another year or two.

I've been watching some TOS eps on CBS lately. I think the problem is that the Remastered eps aren't labeled as such. They're labeled the same as the original ones. I've started an ep only to discover that it's an original one. And then had to stop it and play the other one. Very confusing.
