I liked this episode. The doctor was fairly creepy, and I didn't detest Zod this week, or last week, so I guess that's progress. Though I still feel Callum Blue overdoes things too much, especially before he made his first flight. I did like how they showed different aspects of his character and I think he pulled that off pretty well.

I liked how Chloe is continuing down her dark path and how she and Oliver are developing their own relationship, though I'm still not sure about a romance blossoming between them. It just seems a little icky, with Lois already having been with Oliver.

Yes Chloe continues down her dark path which I think has been a natural progression for her character after loosing Jimmy. Her trust in Clark has been shaken they've not been on the same terms as they have been in the past since Doomsday. She's buried herself in her work as Watchtower and made decisions without consulting people. Ollie has been in his unnecessary self doubt binge for the better part of a season and a half now. So it seems pretty logical for them to find each other and use their passionate encounters as another means of burying any emotional pain they might be feeling. Who knows if a legit relationship will spawn from this. I don't have a good feeling about what Chloe's fate will be after this season though.

^

I'm afraid that I agree with your concerns about her eventual fate here. It seems likely that Season 10 is going to happen and if that's the case, the question becomes is Allison going to be a part of it or not? If not, then she once again has a big target painted on her, IMO and her death at the end of this season seems more probable than ever. It's a shame to have the character end this way, but given the death-spree that usually occurs at the end of a season, I don't hold out much hope that our girl will be back next year. I'd love to be wrong, though.

Inconsistency though is a normal thing for Smallville Hermiod :)

Seriously, most times it causes him to double over in pain.

Then he enters caves where the walls are covered in the stuff and the only effect is that his powers don't work.

This week he jabs himself with it and all it does is allows him to drip his blood on to Zod.

While his blood might heal Zod and even give him his Kryptonian powers back, the presence of Kryptonite should stop those powers working!!! He shouldn't have healed!

In addition, that's not how Kryptonian powers work. With his powers reactivated, he would still need exposure to direct sunlight, even briefly, for anything to happen.

Oh yes, we also have the other Kryptonians wandering around complaining that they somehow can't live without their powers. Powers they never had under the red Kryptonian sun!!!

My thoughts as well and as we've discussed in the Absolute Justice thread before it was confirmed by Geoff Johns that the apocalypse she has been preparing for was indeed Apokolips. I can just see season nine ending on a cliffhanger with War World in orbit of Earth and Darkseid himself arriving on the planet and saying "Darkseid IS."
What the fuck show have you been watching?

Darkseid is going to be an emo Eastern European teenager and War World is going to be a computer game (produced by the up and coming company named Apokolips Inc) that he's been writing while living in his mother's basement. The only reason his name is Darkseid is because he's your typical illiterate computer kiddy and "Darkside" was already taken by a fat 30-year-old gamer from Idaho.

I knew when Zod was healed by the blood that it would cause him to be able to absorb the sun's rays and get powers. No surprise there.

Less tense Kryptonian chick is hot.
The one who was captured? Didn't do much for me.

Have we seen this chick before? She seems to appeared out of nowhere.

I think she was on before, but I'm too lazy to look it up.

Ollie clearly needs pants-wearing lessons.
He also needs to stop taking dressing tips from Matthew McConaughey.

...I'd really rather see a Clark/Zatanna hook-up. There was a lot more sparks there.
I's rather see an Agent Richard07/Zatanna hookup, personally.

Did he say his name is Dr. Gizum?
That's what I heard too. Had to laff.

That's what I was thinking.

We have. Lionel and Martha were trapped in a game

No, I thought we had one this season already. Seems they do a Saw-like episode every year.
They did have a Saw episode this season. It was when Ollie was playing that game that Chloe set up. They even put actual saws on the wall as an homage.

Hellraiser!
Yeah, that's it. Thanks.

I thought for a moment they were actually going to let Zod die.
I knew he couldn't die and I was trying to figure out how he was going to live or come back.

Screw Zod and the Kandorians they're only a warm up for DARKSEID! :)
:bolian: I definatley want to see Darkseid.

I don't know about this...

Doomsday came pretty close to the comic book version.

Darkseid, if he appears, may not disappoint.

^^ Well, if you forget about the whole amnesiac paramedic thing.

As I said, "pretty close".

The way he looked and his abilities sure were spot on. And now that he's been separated from the "human" side, the similarity is even closer.

Which resulted in, what was it, a 5 minute fight! So what is the point? They only showed quick glimpses of Doomsday in the dark throughout the season. But Darkseid would actually need to talk. Much harder to pull that off.

Every time someone flies and it's not Clark, I get frustrated at my TV.

The list:

Supercharged Clark
Lex/Zod hybrid
Martian Manhunter
Kara
Zor El
Warrior Angel
Zod Himself

Amazing isn't it? I know I'm probably missing someone in there. Every other character in has show that's had powers flies. Somehow I bet Zod returns the favor of saving Clark. Clark and Zod are mortally wounded after a battle. Zod realizes that Kal El's destiny is greater than his own. He uses his own blood to heal Clark, and Clone Zod dies. Clark is healed, along with the power of flight. Ironically, a gift from his greatest nemesis.

^No, neither with her Project Prometheus powers or when she briefly duplicated Clark's Kryptonian powers.

Wouldnt Prometheus be the ultimate weapon agains Kandorians?

It would be an effective weapon, especially seeing as Lana has already absorbed a very large amount of Kryptonite radiation. The Kandorians would not be able to go anywhere near her.

However, if Smallville is to be consistent with the comics in the way Kryptonite is portrayed - and it isn't in the slightest, but let's move past that - continuous exposure to that much Kryptonite radiation may have severe health effects for Lana.

The fact that Clark fell ill when approaching her says that the nanites are not containing the radiation, which means that Lana is continuously exposed to it.

The comic book version of Lex, like his Smallville counterpart, used to own a Kryptonite ring to ward off Superman but developed cancer in his hand which later had to be amputated to save his life.

In the comics, said ring is now in Batman's possession since Superman views him as the most trustworthy person to hold on to it just in case Superman ever fell under evil influence. Curiously, in Smallville, Green Arrow takes Batman's place here, despite being entirely untrustworthy.

That sounds exactly like what they would do.

I actually don't disagree with Checkmate's assessment that pretty much sounds like something they would do with Smallville. However I should clarify that my post was my own personal thing that I would like to see done I wasn't saying that it would turn out that way. Smallville will show it if this happens their own way as they've always done.

One of the posts above has me intrigued. I wonder if the Kandorians would aid Clark in fighting the coming of Darkseid in the season finale and yet somehow not be enough in the battle? Also keep in mind that Zod and company do not yet know the location or existence of the Fortress of Solitude. It's something that has been bothering me and I can't help but think the Fortress is going to become a major plot point in the finale or near the finale.
