Do you think would be the best time period for a new Star Trek show to take in place and why? Past (long before the events of Star Trek Nemesis)? Present (shortly after the events of Star Trek Nemesis)? Future (Many years post-Nemesis)?
Yeah, I agree, but a year or two overlap after the end of TOS wouldn't hurt (maybe up until TMP era). Before or during the TOS period - that is, up to the end of the original series.
Really, I got tired of the whole prequel gig loooong before Enterprise and Trek XI came out. I want them to continue the original timeline post-VOY, maybe with a hip, new Enterprise (cough NOVA CLASS cough hack retch cough cough)
25th century of the original timeline. Long enough after everything else so that there would essentially be a blank slate, but still connected to the Trekverse in a significant way.
That's exactly what I would say as well.25th century of the original timeline. Long enough after everything else so that there would essentially be a blank slate, but still connected to the Trekverse in a significant way.
I was going to say skip ahead to another Enterprise in the 26th century, but yeah, doing another ship concurrent with the new movie would be a lot smarter. Before or during the TOS period - that is, up to the end of the original series.
Basically the same time period as Abrams's Star Trek.

Why would you want the new Enterprise to be a little tiny science vessel?
