Best time period for a new Star Trek series

Do you think would be the best time period for a new Star Trek show to take in place and why? Past (long before the events of Star Trek Nemesis)? Present (shortly after the events of Star Trek Nemesis)? Future (Many years post-Nemesis)?

the far past.
I'd like a Trek TV series 6 to be set in the time period after NX-01 and before the NCC-1701 ship thereby being a prequel for TOS.
I'd like that style of production design of the bridge & engineering or else a design that is post VOY.

Before or during the TOS period - that is, up to the end of the original series.

Basically the same time period as Abrams's Star Trek.

The best time period for a Star Trek show to take place is NOW. If it's in the past, we won't be able to watch it because there was no TV or we weren't born yet. If it's in the future, we might be dead. So I say, now - definitely now.

Oh.......

Wait......

You mean what year would they pretend to be in on the show itself?

Never mind.......

I think 8 p.m. would be good. I tend to get tired and nod off if shows are on too late.

25th century of the original timeline. Long enough after everything else so that there would essentially be a blank slate, but still connected to the Trekverse in a significant way.

Either the 23rd century of the Abramsverse (to capitalize on the new movie), or the early 25th century of the prime universe. And either way, the only way Star Trek will return to TV is if the main ship is the Enterprise, so it's either the Abramsprise, or the Enterprise-F, G, or H.

Really, I got tired of the whole prequel gig loooong before Enterprise and Trek XI came out. I want them to continue the original timeline post-VOY, maybe with a hip, new Enterprise (cough NOVA CLASS cough hack retch cough cough)

Why would you want the new Enterprise to be a little tiny science vessel?

Post-Nemesis... right after or a few decades after, no matter... people like me with a hard-on for canon are satisfied and you can still do pretty much whatever you want.... except federation ships with odd numbers of nacelles.

I think Trek's long "history" is one of it's greatest assets. You don't have to drown in it and you don't have to piss in it either.

Slightly beyond the original movie era.

The Enterprise C showed a lot of promise. Captain Rachel Garrett seemed almost as badassed as Sisko.

For a long time, I've wanted a Captain Sulu series, but I'm wondering for how much longer would it be viable, if it's even viable now? I'd really like to see George Takei and Tim Russ star in that one.

Thats exactly how I feel and I'm assuming thats the reason TNG took place 75 years after TOS. They still wanted it to be Star Trek but at the same time giving enough breathing room for TNG to do it's own thing and respecting Treks past.

I was going to say skip ahead to another Enterprise in the 26th century, but yeah, doing another ship concurrent with the new movie would be a lot smarter.

I like the post-NEM era because it also has TNG/DS9 etc. behind it. It's more than just being able to throw in references in lines of dialog, but the whole world-building, universe-building feel. Like LOTR, the Trek universe has a rich tapestry and its nice to have that depth in there, just as TNG was able to draw on TOS.
This is the double-edged sword of using an alternate universe. On one side, it frees you, but you also lose a lot of depth.

But then again, the right set of characters, on a cool ship, having sci-fi adventures that explores humanity inwardly as it journeys outwardly is all you need.
Easier said than done!

1. Best to me: 22nd C, BOTF era (for real this time), or 24th C, post-Dominion War.

2. Best for the franchise: 23rd C, contemporaneous with the Abrams movies.

It goes without saying that #2 takes precedence. I don't want TPTB to cater to me and screw up the franchise in the process, now that it's been successfully revived on the big screen. I would feel sooooo guilty. ;)

Cuz it's a cool-looking tiny little science vessel. You just don't understand these things

I think we need two new series, one with time period from about year2100 to TOS,and second after the Voyager or Nemezis!First time frame is ,by my opinion, maybe a real future of this world,as it should be!:vulcan:
