Too many Hulks? *some spoilers*

Mr. Sin

Commander
For a long time, Marvel just had Hulk and She-Hulk. Sure, there were other gamma mutants running around, and Rick Jones briefly became a Hulk when Bruce was the Grey Hulk, but for the most part they were the only Hulks (Unless you count Banner's myriad Hulk incarnations as seperate Hulks).

Now there's four Hulks-Banner himself (Although he is currently stuck in human form) The Red Hulk (Formerly a villain) Skaar (Banner's son from the Planet Hulk umm...planet) and a robot Hulk with cosmic powers. The identity of the Red Hulk is yet to be revealed, although my money's on it being Glen Talbot, who was recently ressurected, or General Ross, who recently 'died' but we all know about death and comics....

And to make matters even more confusing, there's three She-Hulks. Jennifer Walters, Lyra (Another scion of Banner, from the future or something) and a red She-Hulk too.

It seems Jeph Loeb kind of wanted to "Green Lantern" The Hulks. There are also more Hulk titles than ever now. There's currently a crossover between the series, "Fall of the Hulks". Then there's World War Hulks coming this Summer.

I think it's going to end with the Red Hulk's identity finally revealed (Something we were promised back in '08 but never got!) and Bruce as the Hulk once more.

And Hulk Hogan, the worst of the lot.

I hope you aren't accusing comics of creating copies of popular characters out of creative desperation?

Superspidergoblin Hulk is one of my favorite characters. Especially when he got the armor and became Iron-Superspidergoblin Hulk. Then his epic battle with Earth A-1A's Dark Superspidergoblin Hulk and Bizarro Captain Wonderbatwoman, well, that was plain epic.

I am almost ashamed to say this but Bizarro Captain Wonderbatwoman seems kinda interesting.

I, for one, am still stoked by Skaar (tho' I haven't followed the exploits of Banner since WWH) and hope that we see a great storyline and addition there.

I really haven't read the red hulk or rshulkie. So can't say at this point.

What can you do? The Hulk's core concept is fairly limited, and certainly wouldn't have been able to sustain a series for more than forty years had writers not tampered with it times and times again.

There's only so much mileage you can get out of "Hulk smash!" stories. After a while, you gotta change the status quo, and bring on red Hulks, gray Hulks, smart Hulks and all other kinds of permutations. And then, when you go back to telling stories about dumb Hulk vs. U.S. army tanks, it feels fresh again.

You are not the only one to notice this.
During the opening credits of the Superhero Squad cartoon, Hulk picks up a fractal and transforms into one of the many alternate Hulks. There must be a dozen or more different transformations.

Sorry to zombify this thread, but anybody read the latest developments?

Apparentally a good chunk of the Marvel universe has been 'hulkified', in a pretty silly story development.

June apparentally sees the return of Banner's Hulk, although which persona remains to be seen, and we finally see the resolution of the identity of the Red Hulks.
