as far as shadow i think it might be the girl that ollie is training.

No, the girl Ollie is training is another DC character: the new Speedy. Just like on the tv show, the comic book Speedy is Mia, a former teenage prostitute who becomes Green Arrow's protege.

Shado is someone else.

I thought this episode was a little boring and they rushed the action. The best parts for me were Zatanna and when the kid gave Clark the picture. That's a neat way to be the inspiration for his outfit.

I guess the conversations Clark had about the role of a hero with Lois, etc. keeps this show from being completely in the dumps for me. At least its going to helping him complete his maturation into Superman.

Also, didn't mind the Ollie-Chloe thing though I wish they had a few more characters on the show. It sort of feels incestuous (sp), everybody messing with everyone else. And besides, it can't last. Black Canary's in the picture and Ollie is a player. I hope Chloe can find a more stable partner. She's had terrible luck thus far.

The Warrior Angel reminded me of Captain Marvel. Don't know if that was intentional or not, but I wish the WA outfit looked a little more like CM's since I doubt CM will ever be on the show. Did like the actor who played WA. Hopefully they'll bring him back as another hero.

Is he supposed to be playing a "Wii-like" game or is having a stroke!?

That's Project Natal. Since Smallville has become a huge Windows product placement tool, it was deemed to happen.
That's cool. There's still games I want a controller for (ie race car driving) but I'd love a kung fu workout like that.

Wii has fitness game that uses a web-cam to track your movements, but they are a generation away from incorporating that into all their games.

Meanwhile, I liked the episode. It was a step down from Absolute Justice, and I think they would have done well to put it a couple of episodes later. I mean, let's say we had some meaningless Zod crap for two shows, and then Zatanna comes back and we'd all be hyped...

I'm not ashamed to admit that the Za-rk make-out scene invoked a lot of spontaneous fantasies in my head. And I didn't even find the actress that attractive (way too much makeup).

I thought the story played out really well compared to meteor-rock freak of the week episodes we used to get.

Especially I thought the last scene with Chloe and Oliver was very well shot. Choe's body language as walking over to the scotch, very mature woman, this is not a kid anymore. It was very strong dynamic there, two people who aren't in love with each other reaching out to fill the void.

For the second week in a row, Lois is useless and a detriment to the story. It seems her only purpose is for everyone else on the show to say how great and important she is.

Oh, forgot to mention Zatanna's reference to she and Clark being "World's Finest". Overall I liked her better than the first appearance, very playful, provocative, with a few insights to offer Clark.

I think that video is taking the piss a bit. That's probably all stuff they'd like it to be able to do flawlessly and perfectly, but I suspect the final product won't be able to do all that much, at least no so perfectly and not right away.

And Smith said he wants to branch out and not just direct his friends anymore..... can't do pot, dick and gay jokes forever you know....

I think that's a good thing for him. Sometimes you don't want to be known for just one type of movie.

I know we have niche directors like for example like George Romero but it would be even more interesting if they did a movie completely 180 from what they normally do.

You don't think it can take a full scan of your skateboard as you hold it without scanning your fingers?

Well, I don't know what was more fantastical: the software or the family.

As for the show, it was quite good--at least for a filler episode. It was fun light hearted and full of fanwankery. Plus, it had Yoda and that makes it instant win.

I also think a Zatana relationship would've been good for Clark both psychologically and physically.

I really have to agree with you DP, although I know that Lois is integral to the DCU and the Supes mythos, this version of Lo just simply feels like an add-on to the Smallville Universe... Consider the fact that she didn't even show up until Season 4.

And this isn't a slam against Erika Durance, who does just fine with the material they give her. It's just that this Lois just doesn't really seem to fit into the story that's been emerging ever since she went Back to the Future. Admittedly, there are times I wish she'd stayed there. As many others have pointed out, Zatanna seems to be a much more natural partner for Clark. They actually DO make a pretty good team.

And man, does that chick have a set of legs!

Agreed. I like Erica Durance and I don't think it's been her performance that's been the problem. It's definitely been the writing. I find the character's personality to be abrasive as hell. Her plot development has been very poor. Look at her career, she starts out writing for a tabloid rag, then gets the job at the Planet strictly because the clone editor wants to sleep with her, and then at the beginning of the next season, we learn she's this great, legendary reporter. Too much happens with Lois off-screen and the show spends way too much time pimping her relationship with Clark (I think just about every regular and guest character pimped the Lois and Clark relationship last season), telling us how great she is, and telling us how important she is in the future. They absolutely do not stop with it, despite the fact that viewers know how important she will become. It's just aggrivating.

I've felt that most of the best episodes in the past few seasons have been ones where Lois is not there.

Definitely agree about Zatanna. This show has never disappointed when it comes to beautiful women.

I think the Lois & Clark thing is getting forced down the viewers throat and I wish Lois had never been introduced on the show...atleast not until the last leason of the series. Ofcourse the shippers can't get enough of it but they are for the most part gushy idiots who know nothing about Superman.
I too find the best shows and scenes do not invlove Lois. I like Erica Durance...but I just think that the Lois character is being forced upon us with out any natural develpoment...to be honest I liked it better when Lois and Clark didn't like each other so much.

Finding out that Chloe directed that episode...
sheds a interesting light on the events at the end of the show.

Ally directed the final scene?

Chloe "according" to the script obviously had sex with Ollie 4 seconds after the screen went black, and that was only as hard as the director was willing to push the actress to smoulder and sizzle into an exploding sexbomb?

I agree with your overall point. Though in a way those shipper idiots are right. Lois is central to the Superman mythos. But her presence in this show and in this time in Clark's life is completely off. Having them be romantically involved now has completely changed their relationship.

Lois has suffered maybe even more as a character than Clark over his lack of glasses. She can't really interact with "The Blur" directly. With Superman you know that beyond his good deeds and powers that Lois Lane is physically attracted to him. But not with the Blur. Nor can she be that directly involved in his adventures. Which is possible with the Clark/Superman identity. Almost every Superman comic, movie, tv episode I can think of has Lois interacting with Superman and in separate scenes with Clark. Sometimes where she does not know the secret or sometimes she THINKS she knows and sometimes he has actually told her. But in most of these scenarios she is actively involved in the action plotlines by covering the story for the Planet. Actually usually participating in the events she is covering!!! LOL!. But that does not happen here much because she can not see Clark as the Blur.

I am actually enjoying the show for the first time. Because its now is more about a young Clark in his hero in training days. But Lois scenes throw it off. Which is strange for me because in general I love the character. ( I actually have "Clark Kent looking for his Lois Lane" as my headline on dating sites...)

If I was on a dating site I would have the same title.

The problem with the shippers are they can't seem to get the reality of the why Supes & Lois are who they are...um, it was cute early on...when they disliked each other but it really is being forced now and I don't think it serves the characters justice  Alot of shippers hate the Clark in glasses and the fact he has to hide who he is from the woman he loves...at some points it is annoying but who doesn't want to come out and say; I'm Superman!...As soon as that happens you are putting someone in danger...coz alot of people don't like Superman and he cannot protect her all the time. I know it may seem noble and loving if Lois wants to take this on...but it isn't fair unless she is on the same level as Superman's enemies. If I was \S/-Clark...I would want to tell the person I love I am who I am...but to be honest Clark(as a geek) isn't a bad guy and even if it is a lie...Lois could do worse.

[Edit] I think Smallville is turning Clark into a man Lois can love...I really am not sure what the endgame is with Lois/Clark/Superman love triangle???
