Whenever they get something wrong in an episode

If you're wondering how [they] eat and breathe, and other science facts, just repeat to yourself "it's just a show, I should really just relax."

All the episodes, in all the series took place in it own seperate timeline/universe.

10% - Oh come on, reusing the BoP explosion footage from TUC in GEN???!!!???
I know. They could have at least reversed the image.

:)

Then everyone would be jumping up and down yelling "Not only did they have the nerve to reuse the footage, but the idiots flipped it . Geez, even I can see torpedo launchers are parted on the wrong side. !?!?!" ;)

It doesn't bother me. I mean, it's interesting to talk about among fans, but I'm not annoyed or outraged. Most mistakes are very minor and usually the result of so much material to wade through.

A lot of the time, I simply don't notice. And when I do, after I finish twitching, I chalk it up to a mere slip of memory on the writer's part. They got so much right, I forgive them the occasional error.

I try to rectify the situation as best I can with the known continuity. If that fails, then I allow myself to die a little inside.

In the days of the "Best of Trek" paperback series, a fan named Leslie Thompson would write another "Star Trek Mysteries... Solved!" article, and all would be well. Until the next error.

Actually, I was listening to the David Carson & Manny Coto commentary on the recent release of "Generations" yesterday, and director Carson talks about how much fun it was watching the SPFX guys blow up the Klingon bird of prey. Then Coto mentions how the footage was deemed so good it was reused in another ST movie.

Well, yes it was, we all know that - but, of course, the footage was originally filmed for ST VI.

So I guess the editor of "Generations" was disappointed with the look of the new SPFX work done for that film and argued to reuse the ST VI footage instead? But the director definitely talks about watching birds of prey models being exploded for "Generations".

I wonder how bad the BoP explosion would have to be for it to engender a -worse- reaction within me than such an obvious use of stock footage.

I suppose a Batman *pow* might do it.

Ah, c'mon, all the Star Trek movies up until then had reused old footage (some more than others); what's the big deal?

Reusing "ENT is sitting around in Spacedock" is a lot different IMO from reusing "climactic explosion of antagonist's vessel". I was actually looking forward to seeing what they'd do for the explosion, and then...OMGWTF?

If I remeber correctly, they even talked about re-using footage from another movie before it was in theaters... told people to look for it.

How about he finial episode of DS9, reuse of footage from several movies, and from several earlier episodes...

That was just to cheap... imo

I can forgive wYLB because it was tv, not a feature film, and because those weren't...forgive the poor phrasing..."climax" explosions but just,...well, more DS9 DW action. I know they had a budget, and I'd rather they use generi-combat to save money than do so in ways that could have more seriously impacted the episode.

You mean the tear-jerking, beautiful, long montage of scenes of all the characters, while Vic sings? That is my favourite DS9 sequence of all time.

Too bad it was ruined with the absurdity of Worf having memories of Ezri and everything else on DS9, except Jadzia, just because of royalty issues with Terry Farrell.

Yeah, Terry's absence ruined it for me I admit.

Usually I'm not too worried if they get something wrong. Sometimes I'm amused.
