Chris Pine appreciation thread

Very nice picture, Jeri. Just got my copy of Princess Diaries 2 today. Now I have all Chris' movies except for Smokin' Aces. Not sure I can watch that one yet.

Here's a link to an interesting article mainly about Robert Pine, Chris' dad, but there are a couple of mentions of Chris. Apparently, Robert and Gwynne are going to do "Love Letters" together to benefit a school where Robert's best friend's son attends.

Also, I found the most awesome Star Trek fan created video on Youtube. Love the song as well.

And some Kirk - my current wallpaper:

Hey, Pam, nice to see you; I haven't seen you in a while. Do you have any news about "Small Town Saturday Night?"

Thanks for the links. I will take a look at those later on. I was thinking about you recently when I bought a copy of George Takei's autobiography, "To the Stars."

I love those pics, want to see mine?

It isn't a picture of only Chris other cast members from Star Trek is on it. hope you enjoy

I was talking to one of my friends (actually she's always the one I end up referencing on this board, I've been getting her into Star Trek, she thinks Worf is hot ) and we decided to have a big movie night with lots of movies and of course Star Trek XI was one of them. Anyways, she was looking up on IMDB how long each movie was so we would know when to start them, and she clicked Chris Pine's name and discovered that... Chris Pine played her favorite character from Smokin Aces, which she has seen before. She didn't know it was him. Now she loves him even more. [/end story]

Bless you, Tom, for indoctrinating another fan! That is so great she's already into Chris; he's so worth it! Is that you in the uniform in your avatar? Or somebody famous I'm not recognizing...

startrekrcks, I sleep in a big, black t-shirt with that "Shadows" Pine image on it. Got it from startrek.com last summer.

That is indeed me in my current avatar. I got my uniform this past week. :D BTW, had a movie night last night, showed Star Trek, everyone loved it. And they weren't trekkies. :p

Well, you're a pretty nice looking guy; very nice uniform and proper fit -- and did you go somewhere with a Trek set? Keep up the good work with the indoctrination. Did you create any Kirk fans?

No Star Trek set, that is a photoshop of me and a defiant class bridge. Slightly cartoonish looking when you see the whole picture, but it looks fine for just seeing one small area. I actually hadn't intended to use that as an avatar, I was making another picture but when I had that done I figured it would work. Here's the original(click for full size):

And you can see more of the background here:

I still have to get a screenshot that includes the new Enterprise bridge so I can be talking to Kirk on the viewscreen.

And yes, I did get one more Chris Pine fan out of it. :D

Chris Pine was amazing in last years Star Trek doesn't it seem time has gone so quick since it came out in the cinema's worldwide and released on dvd and blu-ray anyway let's hope that Chris will give another brilliant performance as Kirk in the Star Trek sequel oh I wish 2012 would come quicker.

Tom, sweet 'shopping; thanks! I like the bear. :D Nice work. I thought maybe you went down to the Bay Area Star Trek experience or something that was in the news items. Not sure where you live. Did you have someone tailor your uniform or did it fit ready-to-wear?

That's great you co-opted a new Kirk fan. I took a pregnant lady to the IMAX last May; then she had her baby, and now I have to work on indoctrinating little J.J. That's his name! They called him two names with J, and nicknamed the baby J.J. It sounds like fate to me. He just lives across the street.

startrekrcks, this year has flown by, and it will be 2012 before we know it. And then the asteroid will hit in December 2012. At least we'll get to see Chris one more time as Kirk before the planet is destroyed.

Tom, i love those avatars! You did the work yourself? Getting yourself onto Picard's computer and all? I may have to try and dig up a decent pic of myself (if one exists) and have you do mine. I'd love to have something like that!

Cripes, Zach must have thought they were re-enacting The Naked Time. :rommie:

Whatcha all think about the rumor that Chris is the frontrunner to play Captain America? I'd be pleased with that casting. Done properly, Cap should be a complex role that needs to be performed by a highly skilled actor who knows that just because a character is an archetype, that doesn't also mean he can't be an individual (eg, a certain Starfleet captain).

That's several places in the news now; so maybe it's true. 2011 is a lot closer than 2012, too!

I live up near Boston. It's sort of half tailored? I took my own measurements and sent it to them when I ordered it, and they made it, and it fits perfectly except for two spots: The neck is really really loose so I have been pinning it back so far, and the cuffs are a little big. I'll be bringing it to a tailor sometime to fix those but otherwise it fits really well.

Randi, Yeah, I did those myself. Grab my email address off my facebook and send me a few pictures of you and I'll make you some. I've got a couple different things I can do with them.

Yeah, I hope that rumor turns out true, he'd make a great Captain America. And... He's hot, I want to see more of him... :shifty:

I almost wonder if he wouldn't be taking on too many iconic roles, though? Captain Kirk, Jack Ryan, now (possibly) Captain America. Although I have no doubt whatsoever that he'd be able to handle all of them, and I think he'd be an excellent choice for Steve Rogers/CA. Chris is such an All-American type of guy in his looks, and he has the acting chops to back it up.

Randi's going to have to take up residence in her local movie theater in the 2011-12 time frame should this be true (and I'm sure she'll be happy to do it).

Chris was brilliant as Captain Kirk, I still think he is awesome especially the bar scene when he said relax cupcake it was a joke, did you notice that guy that said hey you better mind your manners, he was one of the security men on the Enterprise just pointing that out.
