Gaiman Confirmed for Season Two/Six/Fnarg-Squared

I thought the season 1 think was only internal anyway,as has been said, it's among the production crew.- From the POV of publicity, marketing etc, it will be S5.

Ummmm. I'm fairly certain that the guy who created Queer As Folk (a huge hit that spawned an incredibly successful American remake) and the guy who created Coupling are at least as big, if not bigger, names than Gaiman's.
That's probably true in the U.K., but I don't think it's the same anywhere else, really. I mean, I can walk into any book store here and find something written by Neil Gaiman, but if I wanted to find anything written by Davies or Moffat, I'm pretty sure I would have to order it from amazon.co.uk.

^Yes but Davies and Moffat don't write many books whereas Gaiman does. If you asked most regular joes who they knew best I bet more people would say they'd watched Queer as Folk or Coupling than would have gone to see Stardust.

QFT.

Gaiman is big, within the pond that is geek culture.

Davies, Moffat, and Richard Curtis are big within the pond that is television.

But the pond that is geek culture is much smaller than the pond that is television.

Again, I know lots of people who've read books by Neil Gaiman, but I'm almost certain that nobody around me has ever heard of either Queer as Folk or Coupling.

And how many of those people you know who've read Gaiman are Not-We?

And, as I noted above, anyone who writes multiple international hit movies is automatically a bigger name than any of the others. That means Curtis.

Well, as far as how big certain names are when compared to other names... I think if you asked people on the street they are more likely to know about Queer As Folk or Coupling--but if you ask them who created them, they're more likely to say, "I dunno."

Gaiman has written some movies-the English translation for Princess Mononoke, Stardust, Beowulf and Coraline.

Although of course, none of these movies were big hits, really.

To be fair, he didn't write the scripts for either Coraline or Stardust, just the novels those films were based on--but he did write the original script for MirrorMask, which everyone should see. :)

Agreed on Mirrormask. I think it's one of the most imaginative films I've ever seen. Brilliant stuff.
