Muad'Dib

I've only read the first book, but I enjoyed it a fair amount. The universe is unique and has a grand scale. I'm going to get around to some more of the books one of these days.

I've also seen the film and the first miniseries. both of them couldn't compare at all with the novel, although the Lynch movie was at least interesting for some of the visuals.

God Emperor of Dune is my favorite of the books followed by Dune. I'm a big fan of the original series. The House Books were okay. The Buterlain Jihad trilogy was disappointing. I did like their finale and the Paul of Dune and Jessica of Dune books were well done if not really necessary.

I'm a pretty big fan of the books. The first is my fav closely followed by God Emperor.

I enjoyed the first book the most, and think the Sci-Fi Channel mini-series was the better of the two on-screen adaptations of it.

Most partial to God Emperor but the first is also great. Really I'm a fan of the first four books, though Messiah is more than a trifle light.

My Feeling, as well, Though a shiver went down my spine in Heretics when Odrade finds Leto's spice hoard, and the first words she see's are "A REVEREND MOTHER WILL READ MY WORDS!"

GOD EMPEROR and the first one. GOD EMPEROR -- which I've never reread, because it just felt complete -- was for me what every version of KING KONG should have been and wasn't.

The one thing I liked in the last Frank H volume was chairdogs, which are only happy when you sit on them (as I recall it anyway.) I always have dogs that treat me like a chair, though.

Oddly enough it's the next line that always gets me: "I bequeath to you all my fear and loneliness."

I'm a fan of Herbert's six. No interest in reading the works by other authors in the same 'verse, or in seeing any of the various film/television adaptations.

Care to elaborate? This is personally the last connection I'd ever make, short of suggesting that Godzilla needed to be more like The Transmigration of Timothy Archer.

I've read the first four books in the series, as well as the first prequel. I'm rather partial to Dune Messiah, actually. It's awfully short (basically, Herbert could have called it book four and packaged it with the original), but I rather enjoy the tragic fall of Muad'Dib.

I really liked the first three Herbert books and the three Dune "House" prequels. I guess my favorite of that bunchwould be the original Dune, followed by Children of Dune, House Atreides, Dune Messiah, House Corrino, and House Harkonnen. I hated God Emperor of Dune. It took me 15 years to complete that book and I lost interest in Heretics of Dune about half-way in. I'm got about half-way through Paul of Dune and I need to pick that one back up and finish it.

I'm a huge Dune fan, I have read the novel Dune every year since I was 14 years old and I'm now 41. I often re-read another one of the novels to go along with it. This does not included if they release a new novel from the wonder twins, which I will read also.

Since God Emperor seems to be a favorite, Let me ask you folks opinion on this:

With Leto's memories and all-seeing prescience, he was the physical incarnation of all humanity. As he says to Siona, "Isn't this, in some small way, holy?"

Also, do you think Leto knew about the events in Sandworms, if you've read that far? We know he planned the Honored Maters. What else did he know? :shifty:

Siaynoq! Siaynoq!
