Curator to a museum.

The now required Doctor and Companion lite episode

The veteran actor will play the curator of a Vincent van Gogh exhibition in the episode, which is penned by Richard Curtis.
A set insider told DS: "It was a real coup to get Bill Nighy in Doctor Who, especially in Richard Curtis's amazing episode. Bill plays a van Gogh expert with some similar fashion choices to The Doctor himself."
The story is set both in the present day and 19th Century France. This Life actor Tony Curran was previously confirmed in the role of van Gogh.
The episode - the tenth in the new series - was filmed on location in Croatia and Cardiff over Christmas.
The title i've heard is and now looking more likely is

Vincent and The Doctor

We should know by next Wednesday since the DWM will reveal most of the episode titles

Hm.

From the longer descriptions I've seen elsewhere (like about his dress sense being shared with the Doctor) I do have to wonder I'm reading too much into this by getting a Braxiatel vibe...

Um, yes?

Sounds like he's doing a very brief cameo for his mate Richard Curtis to me.

Yeah, but I'm sure we can get "Nighy cast as Dr Who's Brother" in the Sun before the weekend...

"Nighy cast as 12 Doctor! Smith leaves due to fatigue! Near death!"

Fantastic news although I was still holding out for him to be The Doctor at some point. Of course, Colin Baker proved that this shouldn't be stumbling block...

Oh, it would make me VERY happy to have Nighy on Dr. Who.

I adore the guy; he's perfect for the Whoverse.

Couldn't we just have him as The Doctor and get rid of that new young guy? :p

Yeah, I don't even watch Doctor Who, but I would if Bill Nighy was the lead. I still might catch the episode just to see him.

Thats awsome, Nighy in Who, cant get better than that, and in Rchard Curtis' episode too. Well, buddies for life. :)

Wouldnt surprise us really would it, to be honest.

My first thought reading the thread title was "Is he going to sing? Does the Doctor take in a Monkees reunion? Will Mike Nesmith finally reunite with the other three?"

Thanks for scaring me. ;)

I'd like to imagine that the Doctor is the one responsible for giving the formula for Liquid Paper to Nesmith's mother...like Scotty did with transparent aluminum in STIV...

As soon as I saw the first line saying Bill Nighy was going to be in it, I knew it would be the Richard Curtis episode. He's one of that clique.

That's an episode I'd love to see. :guffaw:
