Are you "out" with being a geek, or still in the closet?

So, are you "out" as a geek?

  • "OUT"? It's obvious I'm a geek, nothing to be "out" about

I think there are more geeks out there than we realize. They just don't know it yet.

There are also those who claim to be geeks, but really they're just lying to themselves and can never truly attain geekhood. They're wannabe geeks. "Weeks." ;)

I am so out:

Don't ya just wanna pinch those cheeks?

It's a big chunk of who I am. I write about it, do radio shows about it...we are cultural magic.

My fiancée thinks she's one even tho she isn't onto sci-fi.

Whatever the geek equivalent of "flaming" is, that's me.

And luckily for me, I saw fit to get together with a girl who purchases things like "University of Gallifray" t-shirts. ;)

Not only am I an out and proud geek, but I'm an out and proud gay geek. Double whammy. :p

I'm out...but my girl thinks it's endearing so it's all good.
At this point, what choice does she have? ;)
My wife started out thinking it was endearing. Now she simply finds it tolerable.

Yeah, my hubby's the same. But I'm the same with his obsessions with slasher movies and "reality" TV, so it evens out. ;)

I'm so out that I was at a meeting with my stuff on the conference room table in front of me. My carkeys were on the desk, too. Half way through the meeting I noticed that quite a few people had noticed my Jack O'Neill keyfob. I carried on regardless.

Yeah, just about everyone I know is aware of my geekossity. And my sister's the same.

:D
I believe the correct term is "geekhood," "geekitude" or "geekosis."
I've been doing mostly physical jobs over the last few years so people are surprised when they find out it's pretty bright in this skull of mine. They just never imagine that the guy who cuts the lawn and trims the hedges can have others interests. I choose to take it as a compliment.
Good way to stay fit. You may be a geek, but at least you're not a couch-potato geek!

Here at work, my riser cabinets display on the top (from L to R) an HO gauge UPRR caboose, Action Fleet gauge Naboo N-1 starfighter, a Micromachine's Enterprise (no A, B, C or D), McDonald's Happy Meal bobblehead versions of a Naboo N-1 and an Incom T-65, a statuette of Ryoko and Ryo-Ohki, and Godzilla.

I have a glass partition to my office which has a Joel and the 'bots silhouette sticker on it also.

So, the first option it is.

Hmmm. We need a chart of informative and/or appropriate labels. With bullet points. As a motivational poster. Or a pie chart if there's a poll. With a flow chart for deciding which label suits you best.

It's the least we can geek. Shit. It's the geek we can least. Shit. It's the geek we geek do. Shit. It's the least we can do. Yeah.

As much as I'd love to take credit for it, it was the job I could get at the time. Those parts are okay, but it's the rest of the tedious stuff, not to mention the lack of work in the winter that's driving me crazy about it. I hope to find another job soon, one that I actually enjoy.

Not that I will slack off with the training though. I'm done with being fat.

It's all geek to me...

Definitely out, but I've basically been surrounded by geeks of one sort or another on a daily basis for my entire adult life. So it's not like I stick out or anything :p

I make no secret of my interests, but I'm not interested in going to extremes on the geek thing.

I like Science Fiction, and Star Trek has a special place in my heart :). But with that being said, I don't go around proclaiming my love for Star Trek at any chance I get ;)

I'm not ashamed of it, and if someone ask me then I will tell them the truth, but as I said, I'm quite normal about it. Most of my friends know about it, I have tried "converting" a few of them, but without any real success
