You did notice that the site belongs to a group called "The Chicago Surrealist Group", didn't you? And there's a very big difference between reality, and surreality. The latter isn't real. The group and its petition are a form of surrealist theatre/art, and not to be taken at face value.

Well, in all fairness, sometimes it's pretty damn difficult to tell the difference between a put-on and something that SOUNDS like a put-on.

Over on the HobbyTalk boards, one poster (I'm not naming names) actually said:
I sincerely hope we will one day have the technology and the conscientiousness to go back to the moon and "pack out our trash".

WTF?? A few infinitesimal specks of hardware on a satellite whose surface area equals that of Africa and Australia combined? A dead sphere with no life, no atmosphere to pollute, no water to contaminate, no ecological balance to screw up?

I mean, the guy was serious.
