Ugly Betty canceled

Also, didn't Ugly Betty do a shark jump this season by taking the "Ugly" out of the equation? I remember hearing something about her losing the glasses and braces, which sort of removed some of the raison d'etre for the show.

Alex

As I recall, Betty became more prettier towards the end of the original Colombian telenovela, or was given a makeover and won the boy at the end-not that there was anything really 'ugly' about this version of Betty to begin with, I would have dated her and made love to her on the second date!

One thing I wonder-why no footsie-footsie ( e.g., a scene with Betty in her bare feet?);)

I'm surprised the thread made it this far without someone mentioning that.

What is the story behind it?

tsq and three classes full of kids from her school on a school trip were booted from the American Museum of Natural History because Ugly Betty was filming there.

Oh, and it was tsq's birthday too.

So, as far as I'm concerned, this news is just karma. Ugly Betty can fuck right off in to the wastebin of long forgotten television garbage where it belongs.

Oh yeah, I remember that.

Though, like most of America, I had forgotten about most things related to Ugly Betty.

It wasn't garbage, it was very funny and entertaining at moments.

So I suppose that in the future, most American shows can go back to filming in Toronto or Vancouver, or completely at a local film studio like Silvercup Studios?

This reminds me of an incident in Toronto four years back in which a woman who lived in Kensington Market was not able to gain entry to her house because a movie (a Canadian one at that!) was filming near there. The lady (Mary Fish) made some noise, and then the director lost his cool and had her arrested. The incident made a big stink in the local media, especially considering that the movie in question and its director was, as I said before, Canadian.

That said, although I feel for you and fsq's loss, wishing cancellation on a show simply because of a scheduling snafu (which I admit could have been handled better by the production company and the museum staff) is kind of harsh. Also, what was said about visiting the museum by the kids generally should also be taken into account as well-the kids should really take it upon themselves to visit the place by themselves rather than have to only go on a school trip.

Probably the least-surprising news of the week. When a show can't even get higher ratings than Leno you know you have problems.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting the season is also being shortened to 20 episodes from 22. Which I assume means at least that it's not coming off the air immediately.
