Ugly Betty canceled

*shrug* Not a surprise at all. Nor will I miss it - my former roommate and his ex used to love it back in its first two seasons. I watched it with them a few times and just couldn't get into it at all. Oh well.

The one positive note from my view is the cancellation notice was just for Betty and didn't also include Better Off Ted, which I'm still praying to be saved.

I do have to wonder why Fridays is always the death slot. I mean, you'd think they'd have stopped putting shows on that night if that were the case. Of course Saturday is also a death slot, and Sunday's not too good anymore either. Personally I think the "it's on Friday" rationale is being used a bit too much these days. There must have been other factors.

Personally I watched the first couple episodes and liked it, but then I missed a few weeks, decided I didn't want to get caught up on the story at that point, but never got around to getting the DVDs. It's a big risk these arc-heavy shows take.

Also, didn't Ugly Betty do a shark jump this season by taking the "Ugly" out of the equation? I remember hearing something about her losing the glasses and braces, which sort of removed some of the raison d'etre for the show.

I'm not surprised by the news. But good news is that ABC has given the creators time to write up a satisfying conclusion to the show. I'm hoping Betty and Henry get back together in the series finale.
 
I'm not surprised, given its ratings this season. I think the only episode I ever saw was the first one!
 
Friday then a 10pm slot for a show that is designed for 8pm...ABC go everything wrong they could but this has been on the cards since late season 2 when the ratings fell became a problem.
 
Strange, I feel like it was just yesterday that everyone was talking about how great this show was and it was on all the magazine covers. I thought it was still pretty popular but I guess not.

But really i was never a fan, however I love the little kid who might be gay. He's only 14-15 but that actor is incredibly intelligent.

The TV Guide channel has pimped the ever loving fuck out of this show in recent months, and, personally, I thought it was insanely popular myself. That said, I never watched it, and in hindsight I figure it was all part of the channel's obsession with celebrity and fashion that has been the bane of my "what is on?" moments for years.

Seriously, it's my having to constantly mute TV Guide channel to avoid my head exploding that finally got me to subscribe to digital cable. At least now I can surf the menu rather than listen to some celeb gossip crapola.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting the season is also being shortened to 20 episodes from 22. Which I assume means at least that it's not coming off the air immediately.

I watch it, so I'll miss it. I know a lot of people that are way more into it than I am, so there are obviously still people watching it. That being said, my interest had started to fade and not just recently. The first season was a much different show (in a good way) than it's been since then.
