Why people make stupid comments like this is also beyond me...we have the tech, we have the resources...

Actually, we don't. That's why we're in this situation.

It's expensive as hell to do. I'm all for doing it and cutting DoD a bit but I'm biased and connected to it so, whatever. The technology to launch the supplies to maintain a lunar colony is currently outside of our technological level because it's costs too much money - which is a resource we don't have.

We do have the tech & the resources...we not the USA/NASA but we all Space agencies...I am sure if it was a pressing matter "we" USA/NASA would be able to do it alone. Humanity, our future lies in space travel...maybe we aren't there yet, maybe we are...just too blind to really see it...we weren't so blind from the 60's through most of the 80's...for he most part...there is a trend to drift back into the dark ages as far as space exploration goes...in this time when it should be important...I am not connected to it, but I feel it is more important than anything else...because money alone can't solve what people feel is important now...it takes so much more and when people see that...the world will be a better place.

I think there is something bigger going on here...and it has nothing to do with money.

I could be wrong.

It could be that we don't have a competitor like the Soviet Union to keep us interested in a Space Race anymore. Public support for NASA was at its highest then; we might have to wait for someone like China to issue a challenge.

The bigger thing is lack of interest by any government to do anything.

^I'm not too sure of that, because that'll lead to a prestige project without a future after it has been achieved, much like Apollo. We should achieve a goal and then have the means to exploit it further. Going to the Moon in 2020 and then again doing nothing there for another 40 years is a waste of resources.
