Remember that story how we were supposed to be going back to the moon? I pretty much knew those NASA assholes would never get there. They like flying in circles. Well The Orlando Sentinal has a story that Obama's budget completely kills it off. He wants something completely different. So Americans won't be back to the moon until you can build a UFO in your garage and Ethiopa or just about any country will be flying there and laughing at us by the time NASA gets there.

As much as I love space exploration, as much as I think a return to the moon would be awesome and to move forward on that front by setting up a permanent station there as a launching platform to Mars missions.... we have bigger problems right now.

Now, granted, NASA's budget is pennies compared to what is spent on other needless shit, but cutbacks need to be made.

Welfare? Maybe. Education? Mmm, I'm going to disagree with you there. How else are we going teach the next generation of physicists, astronomers, and astronauts without improving education?

And there are so many ways to allocate money as well. Give it to individual states and have the states dictate how the money is used. Come up with incentives to attain high grades. Divert the money in the form of tax breaks to companies who offer to pay for employees' tuition. Turn the cash into scholarships. Make college more affordable. Supply more programming for military education and expand the GI bill.

If we're spending too much on education, how are we ranking so low compared to the rest of the civilized world in almost every other subject?

Any dumbass (see above) can say "We will go to the moon by 2020!", Bush never backed it up with money, he doubled the national deficit and there was nothing to show for it. I rather use the money on a college than a lame ass BS that NASA would have done.

That said we should have a fucking moon base before we waste any more money on a lame ass space station.
