Guy Richie vacates one directing gig and enters another. He was once attached to direct an adaptation of the comic-book property Lobo which is being produced by Joel Silver, who produced Sherlock Holmes, also directed by Richie, and will produce the film's sequel.
Well, it appears Richie will not direct Lobo and instead focus his directorial attention onto Sherlock Holmes 2. It has been rumored that WB wants to fast track the sequel after the first film has earned almost $200 million domestically at the box office, an impressive feat for a film that only cost $90 million.
Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and the rest of the cast is expected to return. Rumored release date is Christmas 2011.

I am very game for a Holmes sequel. I loved the first film and especially admired Downey Jr.'s performance. I can't wait to see what Richie & Downey Jr. do with a sequel.
