Season 4 is coming in the mail...I'm sad.

So I'm getting close to my first-time viewing of the show, and I've really really enjoyed it. I don't quite get the hate (this is a far far better show than say Voyager).

Just finished season three last night.

SPACE NAZIS?

I love it. What a great cliffhanger. I've not been very impressed with the second parts of the ENT season cliffhangers, but I'll get over it, I'm sure.

But I'm going to miss this show, I have a feeling. Much like I did when I recently finished DS9.

(WTF with VOY? Were the same people even involved?)

Anyway, I will likely be hitting the relaunch novels.

Bittersweet and short, like TOS....

I had the same feeling as I neared the end of ENT on DVD. Instead of rushing thorugh the last few episodes as I did the rest I found myself hesitating. After a while I realized that I did not want to see it end.

ENT doesn't deserve the hate it gets. It's better than Voyager and I really like the last two seasons.

I think a lot of the hate comes from following so closely on Voyager's heels. Maybe if it had a year or two in-between things would have been different.

I'm glad you enjoyed the show.

I think in the final analysis, something an Enterprisefan wrote on You tube pretty much says it all: Enterprise didn't fail us, we failed it with lack of support. Guess the old saying is true: don't know what you got until it's gone.

I've said that several times myself (elsewhere) and got flamed for it. All I can say is: you're right.

Indeed. I feel bad that I was one of those who stayed away at the time, and indeed it was because of Voyager. Again, it amazes me that many of the same people were involved in these very different shows.

You know, I'm a little confused. You're sad about this? I'd be pretty stoked if season 4 of Enterprise was coming in the mail to me!! It's the best season of Trek for years.

Enterprise had "only" four seasons, but they were good seasons. Taking it for what it was, it bookends nicely.
By the end of the series the NX-Columbia is launched, making Enterprise no longer "alone" in Starfleet's exploration.
Because up until then, that's the one thing I find that makes ENT stand apart from the other shows. They are not lost in space, but close to home. However they don't have any backup.

For all that wasn't resolved, there was a hell of a lot of good story that was told (and plenty of other resolutions). Heck, plenty of TV shows get canned with terrible or no resolutions.

I'm sad because it will be ending soon, at the rate that I'm watching it.

I'm about three quarters done (just watched Affliction) and I'm really really loving this season. I'm a sucker for fanwank. They manage to get a TOS ref in every episode, so I'm in heaven.

I think I'm going to have a special affection for this show a la TOS, as they both were finished before their time.

Yup. That's the 23rd century for ya... no love lost for the series' set in the 24th! Collectively that's almost 500 episodes!

Well, I finished.

:wah: :wah:

I lost my patience, and watched TATV.

Wow. That stunk.

If it was a "love letter to the fans," I can only imagine it was intended to say, "don't feel bad folks, if the show had not been cancelled, it would have gone on to stink like this."

But still, I loved the fourth season overall, being a lover of some fanwank. Though I can see how it was starting to crumble: as much as I liked season four, I found it more uneven than season three.

There, there. You have the whole series to watch again! On subsequent viewings, you have another chance to appreciate the production values, and catch nuances you missed the first time.

I think the writing staff was hampered because they knew Season 4 could be the last, and they were trying to cram as much as they could. It appeared to me that several storylines fell by the wayside, or were truncated, to make room for the splashy episodes that might have pushed the ratings up enough to earn a 5th season. Alas, no.

If the staff had been guaranteed 7 seasons, I think Season 4 would have looked different, and we probably would have gotten more character development and fleshed-out ongoing storylines. And probably the Romulan War. Too bad. :(
