So over a year later I finally got my hands on this game. On clearance at Target for $7.50, yeah! I had the day off today so I played it... pretty much all day.
I think it's a pretty fun RPG. The fighting scheme reminds me strongly of Assassin's Creed. The game is a lot more intuitive than most RPGs I play; usually it takes me several days to understand all the features and controls.
There IS a lot of tedious running around though. But the sprint speed is very fast, thank god. However the load times between stages is HORRIBLE.
Is there any RPG that doesn't have endless backtracking and running around? (Yes you can teleport between areas in this, but again, the load time is like 30-60 seconds).
I love the dialogue. The whole thing is a great parody of fantasy and RPGs. Very funny.
The graphics aren't realistic but they're pretty.
So I just looked at a walkthrough and apparently I'm already HALFWAY through the main campaign?! Is the main storyline ridiculously short?! That's disappointing. I realize there's a lot of side quests but I've been doing some of those as well!
One thing I haven't been able to do yet is the marriage and property buying stuff. I chose to tell the widow about the ghost husband's letter so didn't get the wife then. The problem is all the money I get is being spent on better weapons. I have nothing left over to buy a property. I've tried working the jobs but the blacksmith was tediously ridiculous for almost no money. I did one assassination job but it just meant going through 4+ load screens, ugh.
Am I missing some secret about having a ton of money? I'm finding all the treasure chests and buried treasure...
Also, like I said I'm halfway through the main story and I haven't noticed any changes in my character no matter how I do morality choices.
So what did you think about Fable II?
