Picture of Younger Picard

Remember that episode in which Picard's artificial heart fails on the Enterprise's bridge and Q takes him back to the time when he got stuck in the back by a Naussican (sp?) after a game of pool gone wrong?

Anyone got a picture of the younger Picard in that?

People always mention how Picard being shown as a young man in that episode contradicts his appearance in "Nemesis", but what about that episode with flashbacks about Jack Crusher's death where they show Picard as a young man played by Patrick Stewart with hair? Can anyone remember what episode that was?

That's Violations, season 5, ep 12. Baaaaad toupee.

ETA: That's set in 2354 though, making Picard 48/49.

Yeah, that was stupid that people were complaining that Tom Hardy didn't look like that throwaway actor. Nemesis had it's faults, but that wasn't one of them.

In fairness, most of the complaints I heard about the scene weren't so much the fact that Tom Hardy didn't look like Marcus Nash. It was more that the scene seemed like a ham-fisted way to try to convince the audience that Tom Hardy totally could have been a young Picard and using baldness as the proof. The fact that we'd previously seen Picard with hair on two occasions just made the whole thing more ridiculous.

Also, for canon-sticklers, Crusher's comment is nonsensical given that she didn't meet Picard until the 2340s, and was probably about 3 when the photo was taken.

I mean, one can fanwank one's way out of it, but it's irritating to have to go to the effort for the sake of such a stupid scene.

Speaking of which, does anyone know what that device was on Picard's head? I remember when I was much younger it freaked me out a little.

:techman: I agree completely with SiorX.

Warmest Wishes,

Very true. Not necessarily about this scene, but about scenes in general that somehow take a great deal of effort to accept. Nicely sum up.

Didn't Picard have a photo of himself as a young man in Nemesis, which was of course a pic of the Sninzon actor, bald? That seriously contradicts the fact that Picard had hair at that age. Not that I wasn't rolling my eyes at the whole damn movie, but that moment just pissed me off.

Problem was Tom Hardy didn't look like that actor and he also in no way looked anything like Stewart! Having him be a younger Picard simply didn't make visual sense. Maybe TPTB should of cast the "throwaway" actor to portray Shinzon, God knows he couldn't have done worst with the character.

Not necessarily. He could've shaved his head at one point.

It a work of fiction. You can't throw in stuff like .."maybe he shaved his head...people do that".
It was a stupid way to tell the audience that this was young Picard by having him bald at 19 or whatever young age.

Agreed. They should have put hair on Tom Hardy for the photo. That would have solved all problems and forestalled all debate. The producers screwed up, and should have known better.

From when I first saw Nemesis Tom Hardy reminded me more of Wesley Crusher.

They didn't have to have a young actor in the role. I couldn't watch Timothy Dalton in Doctor Who recently without thinking or Patrick Stewart

Or change the plot so that he was fully aged up, then just let Stewart play both roles, instead of having Brent Spiner ham up a second role. Again.
