I like TNG. It's what I consider to be the best Trek, and it's among my favorite TV shows. But I voted 'none' for the movies.

GEN: Trying to do too many things, with nothing holding the mess together. Kirk's role was squandered completely.

FC: More Aliens than Trek, with an ill-conceived time travel plot device thrown in.

INS: Would have made a decent TV two-parter, but not a big enough story for a movie screen.

NEM: My favorite in that it was the last TNG movie.

I think Generations and First Contact are alright.

My least favorite thing about the TNG movies is how unrecognizable Picard is. On the series he is definitely one of my all time favorite characters...dunno who the schmuck in the movies is though.

I voted for just 1 (First Contact):

GEN (C+) Possibly the best looking of the Trek films with regards to effects, cinematography, lighting (except for the new film), but it's basically one big wasted opportunity (i.e. both captains) with the biggest plot holes of any Trek film that I just can't get past.

FC (A) Great story, villian and battle sequence (wish it was longer, though). It was a nice choice to tell the story of the beginnings of Star Trek, so to speak. Wonderful score as well.

INS (C) Pretty forgettable. Played more like an episode. Dodgy effects in places as well, with some cringe-inducing moments.

NEM (F) A total disaster. Full of uncharacteristic and cringe-inducing moments. A plot that makes little sense. It seemed clear that Baird had no clue how to treat these characters. Burton even confirmed that Baird thought his character was an alien. A real shame that the cast went out on this note.

As an aside, you should watch this guys reviews of the Next Gen films (http://www.youtube.com/user/RedLetterMedia). Hilarious, in-depth and very perceptive. Perhaps someone else mentioned him on this board....not sure.

The yellow and orange mood lighting in GENERATIONS when the Enterprise-D is near the Amargosa star still makes me smile to this day. VERY effective and nice to look at. It makes the scene where Riker reports to Picard in his ready room ten times better than the dry dialogue would normally have allowed it to be. And the shots in Ten Forward and on the Observatory...all bathed in that bright almost supernova-like light? SWEET.

^Yeah, I for one liked the way the inside of the D looked in the movie.

For that matter, I liked the outside.

Oh why were we robbed of the battle with the Romulans for a holodeck boat scenario?

I dislike the TNG series, so I never really expected much from the features. Even so, I was still disappointed with all of them.

INS seemed truer to TNG's nature, but that is hardly a virtue when it comes to feature filmmaking.

FC is seriously overrated IMO, because the film wasn't true to its premise ... you can't show the phoenix rising from the ashes if you don't see the ashes first, and postWW3 earth just doesn't look like anything horrible. They really messed that up, plus Picard's temper tantrum just makes me laugh (like his emotional scene in GEN.) Plus there's very little action for what is perceived as an action movie. Great miniature work in it though ... it's the only TREK outside of Abrams I don't own on DVD.

GEN has a good 10 minutes up front, so I guess it wins.

Did I forget NEM? Oh well/.

I said all of them, granted there's several films where the writing could've been better, I'll just leave it at that!

I decided to vote for ONE - First Contact.

In the end, Generations probably should have made the list, but it has been so long since I've seen it... and yet, I don't ever seem to WANT to see it - I only own the TOS movies, Nemesis (a birthday present) and JJ Abrams' reimagination on DVD. I have First Contact on VHS - and if I was to go out and buy any of the ones I don't have on DVD, it'd be First Contact.

I voted for all of them, because I own all of them (They were the ones I bought first when I started my own ST movie collection). Some of them are definitely not better than some of the original Star Trek movies, but that being said, I do like all of them, even though some of them do have problems... and Nemesis is my least favorite of the TNG movies, Generations and First Contact in basically a tie for first and second, and insurrection is just kind there in between.

I voted 2 because I find it very easy to watch FC and Ins (yes flaws and all). I won't turn of Gen, but won't seek it out either. Nem is impossible without my finger on the fast forward button.

God, I can't think of any two parters on TNG that were worth a damn other than BoBW. Well, All Good Things, of course--but only if that counts. Descent, Birthright, Unification, Gambit, Time's Arrow, and Encounter at Farpoint are all very flawed. Still all better than Insurrection, but not all that great.

Time's Arrow would have been kick ass as a major film!! They'd have to expand on the confrontation between the enterprise crew and the aliens.

As a two parter episode It's even better than First Contact IMHO

I can watch all four TNG movies. That's not the issue.

It's ENJOYING all four that's a damn impossibility thanks to INS being a glorified, overblown two-part episode and NEM being such a thudding flop. Not that the first two films don't have their own issues and flaws, but they're TWOK or THE DARK KNIGHT compared to the latter two.

Well for me the dealbreaker moments are as follows:

Generations: Kirk dies. Who's moronic idea was this? DEALBREAKER!! Why can't just let the icon live? To add insult to injury, he dies in the stupidest way possible. The other alternate ending is about the same. Ideally he should have lived, and went to retire with Scotty.

First Contact was ok. I hated the fact that Zefram Cochrane was an idiot drunk. How the hell does a guy like that invent warp drive, he looks, and acts like a bum!!! But it wasn't a deal breaker, the rest of the movie was ok.

Insurrection: The Ba'ku were the most arrogant pieces of shit in the Galaxy. I can't think of a worse race. Picard should have let them eat shit. DEALBREAKER!

Nemesis: Data dies. B4 inadecuate replacement. DEALBREAKER!. Not to mention the movie ended in the most depressing way possible. I felt like throwing up afterwards.

On a scale of Great, Good, Average, Bad, and Horrible...

GEN: Average. It's essentially just a two hour episode. Though, they did have the guts to kill Kirk, so that brings it up a notch. He's not immortal.

FC: Good. At least it actually feels like a movie, and not an episode.

INS: Bad. Another two hour episode, and a pretty pointless and boring one at that.

NEM: Oh Dear God What Is That Thing. Easily the worst of the eleven movies, and given the loathing I have for the newest one, that's saying something.

Like: really none of them. They just didn't spark with me. I liked TNG, really enjoyed it, but the movies failed to capture some of the spark.

Enjoyed: As in, they're fun enough to watch on a slow day: First Contact and Insurrection-- though I enjoy Insurrection more than First Contact.
