Yay!
Great news! How long is the commute?
Great news! How long is the commute?
About 1hr 45 mins - 2hrs each way. Depends on how it all goes what train etc. I keep myself amused for quite a bit of it. Today I've watched an episode of Monk, Friends and three podcasts.
But it means I'm out of home for 13 hours a day. And that's quite a change after doing nothing for six months!
Yah, last year everyone over 40 pretty much got sacked for lack of billable hours. So much for no age discrimination from gov't contractors. Luckily I found another job and was working again in a week.

That's a common story in this recession. Over-40s tend to be getting paid the most, have families, higher medical expenses, etc. etc. Age itself isn't really the issue, but rather the overall cost to the company. Like it or not, people over 40 tend to cost more than employees in their 20s, and you can't quantify 20 years of experience on a balance sheet, so they are often the first to go.
