O'Brien out, Leno back in?

Conan reportedly began crying while reading the text of his NBC letter to his crew this afternoon.

Considering the families of the crew and all the folks that pulled up their roots to make the cross-country venture with Conan ... makes sense. The guy must be feeling the weight of all of that responsibility to them as he's also battling all this bullshit. I'm not surprised he broke down.

Nothing like having to say, "I understand you sold your houses and moved your entire families across the country to follow me for this show ... but ... it's only been a few months and we have no more show."

Fox wants Conan back. As a writer for The Simpsons he was comedy gold, which boosted ratings. Fox taking Conan would be win/win all around, as Fox would get not only the writing and comedy that boosted ratings of a still popular television show, but they also get Conan's viewer base, Conan as an established figure and with late night talk show experience, and Conan gets his hands untied and the chance to really cash in and enjoy the spotlight that he so richly earns every night.

Come on, Coney baby, take the Fox deal!

There are reports all over the place since yesterday about Conan O’Brien and Jay Leno. Their situation is a mess. One of them will have to go, or both of them will have to share the time slot from 11:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. on weeknights.

But here’s what everyone’s missing: Lorne Michaels is the guy behind Conan. Lorne, the executive producer of “Saturday Night Live,” has been a fixture at NBC longer than almost anyone — since 1975. He handpicked Conan to replace David Letterman years ago, and was executive producer of “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.”

On top of that, Lorne is also the guy behind “30 Rock,” NBC’s biggest hit and award-winning comedy. How ironic: the hottest show on NBC is in the hands of a guy who lampoons the network on the show. And that same guy’s protege is in the middle of a network power struggle.

As if we needed any more reasons showing how NBC REALLY didn't think this whole thing through...

Wow tonight almost all the late night shows were out in full force on the "Conan VS Leno" battle

Conan did a deal or no deal type gag on what he should do next

Letterman continued to sit back and watch the chaos

"See if I have a job tomorrow"

Kimmel LOL his whole show was a parody of the Tonight show. Headlines,musical cues, Leno makeup,and his own Eubanks.

Letterman was pretty pleased about the whole thing. He got in several jabs at Leno and NBC and said that it's all about money. He also mentioned that Conan is a smart guy and he said the whole thing was absolutely entertaining.

Apparently CBS does put the monologue of the show on it's site before the west coast airing. I was able to get it before hand. Conan was funny but I think I expected a bit more. What was comic gold though, surprisingly, was Jimmy Kimmel when he brought out Chevy Chase. I was cracking up.

Craig was funny as hell, he really ripped into NBC. I think it was a record number of bleeped curses tonight. And don't forget that he had the puppet at the start call NBC Mother Fuckers...

It's almost like the late night guys are closing ranks. It's a small club of people who work in that particular field. One of them is getting the shaft, and they are all showing their support.

I do notice that of all the shots being taken, very few, if any, are directed toward Conan. I've seen tons of shots toward NBC for what they are doing to Conan, I've seen tones of shots on Jay, I've even seen some back handed shots on Fallon and Daley... But they all seem to be supporting Conan.

Very telling.

I don't know, Conan seems to be more of the old late night conan... I think he's got a "what are they going to do, fire me" attitude at this point and starting to push the envelope on things a little and getting a little more free and crazy.
