Agreed. Americans should never play Doctor Who. (Not on a permanent basis, anyway.) Only Britons should.

I think he retained both, but I once thought he'd renounced his British citizenship too. Maybe he didn't.Agreed. Americans should never play Doctor Who. (Not on a permanent basis, anyway.) Only Britons should.

I'm reasonably certain that Welshmen count as Britons, unless he also lost his British citizenship after getting his American citizenship.
Mark Gattiss has suggested that Peter Davison would make a very interesting Doctor now. What? There's nothing that says that a Time Lord can't regenerate into their previous regenerations, right?![]()

oh I have to disagree with that, whilst I love Alyson as Willow on Buffy, she does not have the same attraction on How I Met Your Mother, unless Wheedon is going to write her Doctor, even then I dont see it. Plus im not sure I want a Doctor that I could fancy, could make things confusing with the past regenerations.Personally, I'd think Alyson Hannigan, would make excellent female Doctors.![]()
right on 23skidoo. I've been saying Bill Nighy for years. It'll never happen, since the PTB seem to want to keep The Doctor in the 20-40 range and last time I checked Bill was in his fifties. But we can dream.
As much as I love Kate McGrath on Merlin, her acting is pretty variable.
Aside from the unlikeliness of this since she's already played a companion (and for all we know may be back someday as Christina), I think she'd do OK as a female Doctor or a Romana. Unfortunately, for reasons that aren't really fathomable over here in Canada a lot of people in the UK hate her. (It was the same thing with Catherine Tate - no one over here understood why there was so much initial hatred for her.) Maybe if EastEnders was actually a going concern in Canada/US it might have been different. There was some dislike for her because of Bionic Woman, but the fact was it was the show that failed - most people I know liked the actress but hated the show. If Ryan were cast as the Doctor I get this feeling blood would run in the streets of London, which is unfortunate because I think she's great. And my only exposure to EastEnders-vintage Ryan was that DVD that came out of the episode in which she spent the hour dressed in a schoolgirl uniform and that's NOT a bad thing!I'd also consider Michelle Ryan
I always thought Arnold Vosloo
Yeah but they're movies. Not weekly tv shows.
^I don't think Michelle Ryan is hated in the UK, certainly not how I feel about her...quite the reverse!
Hugh Laurie
Nah, I would rather see Fry as the companion who cleans up The Doctor's mess. With Stephen Fry as the Master?Hugh Laurie
