Fringe: "Unearthed" 1/11/10 - Grading & Discussion

Interesting MOTW episode but nothing special. Kind of a strange episode of Fringe as this episode was a little more supernatural than the rest of the series. One thing is for certain, it was probably better than the episode of Heroes.

A decent stand alone episode...obviously before Olivia's partner died :p

The Russian dude Rusk is now in the accident victim's head as shown in the last scene.

I voted "Above Average" purely on the strengths of the episode's characterizations. The mystery itself wasn't especially interesting or compelling. But Walter's "fine line" between science and faith was a nice touch. And Peter's rapport with Lisa was quite plausible and effective. Plus, the interactions between Peter and Olivia were nicely done. All told, the story was merely average, but the overall episode was elevated because the characters were so engaging.

I have to say the best part was the Indian Doctor woman...HOT.

I totally hope I can sleep with her some day.

Dude, I totally agree!!!!!

Oh ... wait ... :p

Seriously though, you've got a very attractive wife ... and she handled the role with aplomb. Congrats!

Isn't she? My father once asked if my wife was a good actor, and I felt like I could say yes with total honesty, because every time I see her on screen or on stage it's like seeing her for the first time.

(Though, I think she's a little tired of doing Doctor roles....)

Congratulations to your wife Prof Zoom! How exciting for the both of you!!! BTW, she is very beautiful!

Question: I guess i missed an episode or two....didn't Olivia's partner die? Or are we still seeing the imposter?

This was an unaired episode from season one...partner had not died yet in the narrative.

He is quite dead now...the imposter too!

This continues to confirm rarely do the standalones on this series deliver. This was watchable but terribly formulaic with no surprises to be found all culminating in the predictable "tense" chase/shootout in the final act and the big "shocker" to close out the episode was one you could see coming.

Also XF did a very similar episode and did it much better. This just wasn't very compelling coupled with the surprisingly nonplussed reaction to our characters to the seeming confirmation of a "soul" just falls flat.

Yawn.

I haven't seen the episode yet, but was there a way they could've aired this episode earlier and pretended it was fake Charlie? Maybe add some ominous music when he was on?

The production title is actually 1x21. Not sure how this one got lost or what happened to make it not air...

Seeing as how Olivia went to the other side in 1x20 and returned in 2x1, the only way this could've been 1x21 would be if it was an episode without Olivia.

So they filmed this last year and are airing it now?

How the hell did they let the Charlie thing slip through?

I graded it an "Excellent." Did it really deserve it? Maybe not but it had great character moments (Walter yelling at the priest ) and I liked the plot.

And did I miss something or did the girl ask Olivia out at the end?

So this is an S1 episode? Did this show up on the DVDs or something? Charlie showing up all of a sudden freaked me out a bit. :p

And did I miss something or did the girl ask Olivia out at the end?

I think the implication was that if Olivia didn't make a move on Peter she would when she turned 18.

That does make more sense but I liked the idea of her asking Olivia out as Olivia does send of my gaydar from time to time.

It was funny because I thought part of the dude was still in her and that part was hitting on Olivia. Oh well. :p

Average filler type story with an x-files ending. We will probably never hear or see from the 'dead' guy again...especially when this story took place last year...

On the other hand Fringe is back! Watching this show and watching Heroes right after I'm just left shaking my head at just how brutal Heroes has become on every level. Characters, pacing, god damn acting, just crap.

Even an avg epi of Fringe was ten times better!

You could say this episode is an alternate reality episode.

The production title is actually 1x21. Not sure how this one got lost or what happened to make it not air...

Olivia in the last episode turned a ye old crank and now everyone is shifting through realities.

Ah, ok. Thanks. Bizarro that they decided to air this now.
Did they not think they were going to confuse a few people with Charlie showing up?

They filmed this last season at the end, to air during this season... and that just makes things weird...
