Your Dream Car?

My dream modern car is a 2-door Yaris. My dream car of all time is a 1971-1975 Super Beetle.

95 Mazda Protegé

This is what I currently drive. Considering the less-than-minimal amount of maintenance I've engaged in, the fact that it's still on the road is sort of amazing, and a testament to the totally decent quality of these cars.

I wrecked mine...I didn't mind it too much but it wasn't what I wanted in 1999.

My last car was a Protege. If you're looking for a good winter car, look elsewhere. It was the worst winter car I've ever driven. It's not even 4-wheel drive. Plus, it had a tendency to die in cold weather. In the last few years of its life, I'd spend upwards of an hour trying to get it started in the cold. But mostly it's the lack of 4-wheel drive that puts me off it. IMHO, 4WD should be standard on every car in the world. I will never own a car without it, ever again.

Mercedes McLaren SLR

^ Wow. I don't think I have seen one of those before! It looks mean. :klingon: The front reminds me of the Batmobile too. Awesome!

I'd like one of these for my midlife crisis, please:

Though for something more realistic, there are also the following, too:

I'm still looking around for the last one, unfortunately manual versions don't seem to be for sale much atm

^You know, I like the looks of the new GT-R, and I even like waht they've been able to do with it's Twin-Supercharged V6 engine, but I hate that you have to basically break it to use it's full potential.

It has a nose! It does! Plus I'm kinda tired of those since everybody with a bit of money have those around here. Well not the McLaren, but the regular SLR.

Is that still having to do with the pact Japanese automakers made back in the day about limiting the power output of their cars? I know that applied to 90s Supras and R34 Skylines? Considering that new Skyline in the States in dressed up as a Infiniti G35

^If you want a new one with a V8, wait until the 2011 model and you get the new 5.0 liter V8 with 420hp and better mileage then the current V8. If you want a V6 you should still wait since it's getting a way better one as well that I can't remember the specs for in my head, but more power and better mileage as well in that.

Possibly. What I heard was that if you use the launch control like it's supposed to work (i.e. launching the car from 0-60 in 3.5 seconds) it's breaks the gearbox or something. And even if it doesn't, as soon as you push the button you void the warranty.

I mention it, because I remember that Toyota purposefully gimped the Twin Turbo Supras so they would only make 325 hp. Mazda gimped the RX7 to only 255 hp. And Nissan gimped the R34 Skyline GTR to 325 hp.

All 3 cars were factory capable of a lot more.

Um...okay. I'm not that knowledgeable about cars but thanks :)

I'd like a green one  But I'd like the earlier models, from the 60s into the mid 70s, or the recent models. I'm not crazy about the ones from the early 1990s. One of my aunts has (or had- I'm not sure if she still has it or not) a 1992 or 1991 Mustang. I think the way they designed the Mustang during that time was a disgrace to the concept of what a Ford Mustang should be like. The recent models got it back on track.

I guess I just assumed that you know, since it's a car thread... In any case I don't think green has been available except for the dark green on the special Bullitt edition Mustang in later models. So unless you find one that's repainted or repaint it, I'd say your better off looking for an old one.
How could anyone resist one of these?

Because it looks like a squashed Beetle! I'm sorry but I don't get all the love for the 911. It's looked the same for 40+ years!

Would kind of "car guy" would ever mock slow and steady refinement over drastic overhaul.

Both ways work, both approaches are respectable.
