Well, I laughed.
And you are going to Hell for that. TO HELL!!!

:shifty:

If I had a dollar for every time someone told me that, I'd have at least several dollars. :p

And I think you are missing TLS's :)

Oh, am I? Am I really?
Well let me tell you something.
Something that may shock and surprise you, and that something is, ...

I'm not seeing a joke at all

So quickly he forgets. The atheist conversion process is working exactly as I have foreseen it. Muhahahahaha!

I'd imagine the "So you want Him to kill you?" comment has to do with everyone being God's creations or Christians being children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. ;)

 Humour's subjective.

More than likely  Especially if it involves a Simpson's reference :p

Well, here is the quote:

Hutz: Now Mr. Nahasapeemapetilon, if that is your real name.
Have you ever forgotten anything?
Apu: No. In fact I can recite pi to 40,000 places.
And the last digit is 1.
Homer: Mmm... pie.
Hutz: Well if you never forget anything. Tell me this. What color tie am I wearing? [turns around]
Apu: You are wearing a red and white club tie in a half-windsor knot.
Hutz: Oh, I am, am I? Is that what you think? Well if that's what you think, I have something to tell you [ugh]. Something which may shock and discredit you [ugh]. And that thing is as follows [as he finally undoes the whole tie]. I'm not wearing a tie at all. [jury gasps]
Apu: If I am wrong about that. Maybe I am wrong about Mrs. Simpson.
Hutz: No further questions. [Hutz raises his arm and the tie is sticking out of his sleeve]

And here is the quick play by play:

This is a pretty weird story. God tests Abraham's loyalty by commanding him to kill his own son, but he is only kidding; yet he considers Abraham loyal because he agreed to do this revolting thing without question. Nice guy, this God. Nice guy, this Abraham.

One thing pointed out in one of my philosophy texts is that this story could easily be seen with a unique twist to it - Abraham provides his own interpretation over the order, that it's a test of loyalty, but the angel doesn't give a specific reason from God. For all Abraham knew, God could be testing to see if he would commit an immoral act simply because God ordered it, and he would fail in that case. Abraham chooses the rationalization he does because it seems to make the highest degree of sense from a weird and terrifying directive.

I don't believe that works, because, as has been pointed out, it's unlikely that Abraham thought of human sacrifice to God as an immoral act.

Just like one today could tell you that capital punishment is not murder, so would someone in this time have said about sacrifice.

"Abraham...Aaaaaaabrahaaaaammm....I'll be needing you to wear this pink tutu that I'll be leaving for you on Mt. Sinai going forward. Okay thanks, God."

Mt. Sinai? I thought it was Highway 61.

:guffaw:

Just so you know that at least ONE person got you....

Oh God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son"
Abe says, "Man, you must be puttin' me on"
God say, "No." Abe say, "What?"
God say, "You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin' you better run"
Well Abe says, "Where do you want this killin' done?"
God says, "Out on Highway 61."
