what happened to the borg baby?

I personally think it would have been a great idea to have Samantha Wildman be the character that was killed off in the episode "Friendship One" instead of Joe Carey. The whole point of killing off a character in that episode was for it to be one we, as the audience, were familiar with and not another nameless red shirt. Carey only appeared in three episodes after Season One, including this one. The audience was much more familiar with Samantha Wildman. Also, with her officially out of the picture, it would be most natural for Neelix to become Naomi's guadian. Given that Neelix left the ship a few episodes later, the next logical choice for a guardian would have been Naomi's best friend, Seven. It certainly would have done a lot to develop Seven's character if she suddenly found herself needing to be a full-time mother. A lot more so than that romance-out-of-nowhere with Chakotay. :brickwall:
Now this is an EXCELLENT idea! :bolian: It would have provided much greater scope for character development and drama, not only onboard the ship, but after they returned to the Alpha Quadrant. After all, who would Naomi want to live with - her friend/older sister-figure/teacher, Seven... or the father she never met?

A more accurate question: who would Naomi want to live with - her friend/older sister-figure/teacher, Seven... or...........Neelix? ;)

Neelix moved onto fresh prey.

Considering the talens of the writers on that show, I wouldn't be surprised if they simply forgot or ignored her.

Niomi doesn't have a choice, she's a minor.
Legally she'd have no choice but to live with her father.
It's her father.

It's her father.

That could be solved easily, from the story's viewpoint. Naomi could be above the Ktarian Age of Majority, thereby no longer being considered a minor in the eyes of the law. Or Ktarian culture could allow a minor to choose who to live with.

Given the fact that Naomi flat out says she doesn't want to return to Eath because she views Voyager as her home in the episode "Bliss," I think she would want to live with Seven and try to get to know the father she's never met.

Her mother & the man's wife died, would you really justify breaking apart a family further? Have you even considered how as her father, would feel loosing first his wife & now his only offspring won't come home with him either?

How would you feel as a father & husband to have a dead wife and having your only living contection to her, your own flesh & blood ripped from your arms? Seven & Neelix are only Godparents, so they can't claim Niomi unless both parents are dead.

Niomi belongs with her father.
Seven can come visit whenever she wants.

I think the popular theory is Neelix used it in some kind of leeola root casserole.

Ah, you did beat me to that one! :rommie:

My personal theory is that the Borg Baby ended up as:

(Here comes a drum roll!)

A valuable member of The Torpedo and Shuttle Building Team! :techman:

As we all know, Voyager wasted more shuttles and torpedoes than acceptable so when they were running out of those, Janeway assembled a group of skilled crewmembers who were given the orders to build as many new shuttles and torpedoes as possible. Lt Carey was the officer in command for this unit which included Dalby, Gerron, Henley, Chell and Rollins. Later on Vorik and Samantha Wildman were added to the crew and so was also the Borg Baby whose small hands and size was perfect for some more delicate technical work.
I think they did an "Equinox" and plugged into a shuttle warp core as a power source.

The new moto is:
Baby Borg, it's the only way to fly!!!

Did they also slap a sticker on the window that read "Baby Borg On Board?

No, oddly enough it said "No Radio".

In an ideal world, I completely agree with you, Naomi should be with her father. But this "what if" scenario we're considering isn't ideal.

How would Naomi feel? The only family she's ever known has either died or left the ship and the only one she has left, Seven, is now not allowed to be there.

Forcing her to be with her father wouldn't help. It would probably only serve to further alienate her from him. That's why I think Naomi would want to live with Seven while getting to know Greskrendtregk. Easing into the relationship would be better, IMO.

I think the episode "Child's Play" pretty well covered what the crew of Voyager would do in a situation like this ... Icheb didn't want to go with his parents (whom he didn't remember), so Janeway let him hang out on board while getting to know his parents again until he was comfortable. I can imagine that Federation social workers (if they exist in the 24th century) might take a similar approach, and surely Greskrendtregk, unless he was just a total jerk, might well go along with that. After all, who wants to have a confrontational, forced relationship with their long-lost kid right off the bat when there's a viable alternative?

I think the writers forgot her. But maybe she died, or was returned to her people, or went with Mezoti and the twins to live with the Wysanti? She was cute.

And I agree, I liked Mezoti, she had spunk. "Snacks are irrelevant! Continue the story!" :borg::lol:

Agreed, the writers simply forgot about her. Though I do find it hard to believe that even the Voyager production staff, as scatter-brained as they were, created this character and then forgot about her all within ONE EPISODE! :brickwall:
voyager at least tried to be brilliant. you are not by any chance an admirer of ''all good things"? it weren't 3 enterprises which caused the anomaly, but two of them plus crusher's barge. a graver mistake in my book than to drop a minor character.

OH SHIT!!!
You're right!:cardie:
:rommie:

I seem to recall reading that the script definitely had a line that the borg baby would be beamed down to the people adopting the other children, but the scene had to be dropped for lack of time. They weren't too concerned because they figured most of the audience had forgotten the baby over the arc of episodes.

I think I agree with that one. The baby's nanoprobes would be perfect for helping in the construction and when they're not building, one of the team takes care of it. Probly not Wildman cause Naomi would mention that.

Once again they underestimate the fans. :D

No, they were right. Most viewers, including many diehard fans, did forget about the Borg baby. ;)

There's a running joke in my family (we all watched Voyager together the first time through) - "What happened to the Borg baby?"

When I saw this thread title, I did this - :guffaw:

We have ALWAYS wondered this. What DID happen to the Borg baby?

What I have seen, this question do show up on each and every Voyager related forum from time to time.

The most popular theory includes Neelix and his kitchen.

However, I prefer my own theory about the kid joining the real heroes of Voyager, the Torpedo And Shuttle Building Team. :techman:
