Since the Wesley Crusher (aka, The Boy) subject has been broached

if Crusher were on DS9 for say 1 year, what would be the dynamic between he, Jake, and younger Nog?

The writers would most likely force a friendship between the three, even if "The Boy" acts like a pompus ass towards them. In reality, I think Jake would put up with him because he's nice like that. Nog on the other hand would clash with Wesley's "we're in Starleet, we don't lie" attitude, especially since he would later choose to join Starfleet.

They'd get in a fight because that's what boys do. It would be interesting when Odo would break it up.

Nog would find Wesley insufferable, Wesley would find Nog objectionable, and Jake would try to make peace between the two. Can't you imagine Jake saying, "Can't we all just get along?"

Wesley wouldn't always be around Fleet officers, be allowed to act like a real boy for once, have actual peers who weren't a bunch of sullen brats, and generally be allowed growth he wouldn't have gotten being on a Fleet ship all the time since DS9 is more a community in space with wide ranges of people and culture.

And here I thought Data was Pinocchio.

Well, he was either Pinocchio, Sherlock Holmes, or virtually any character from Shakespeare. Take your pick.

People seem to be forgetting the age difference, Wesley is 7 years older than Jake and 5 years older than Nog. He's already in Starfleet or at least at the Academy when DS9 starts, he isn't a "kid" any more. His relationship to Jake and Nog would be more like what the main crew's relationship to Jake and Nog is, "we're adults and you're kids".

Towards the end of the show it would be easier for them to be friends since they are all adults at that point. Jake would probably want to do a story or report on Wesley as a Traveller so they could bond over that I guess.

I think in the beginning they wouldn't have got along, but after getting into some sort of life-or-death situation and only surviving by working together they would have learnt that, despite their differences, they were all decent sorts and everything would have ended splendidly.

That more or less sounds like how Bashir and O'Brien became friends.

You just reminded me of O'Brien's Bashir impressions, which I thought were bloody hilarious.

If Wesley was on DS9 then he would have probably had some kind of Engineering position I guess... just think - he could have been O'Brien's bitch! I think I agree with the Nog not being fond of him sentiment, especially as they'd probably end up as rivals despite the age gap.

I know, let's have Wesley coming to DS9 in a runabout with Jake and Bashir. Let's say they met when Jake and Bashir went to Earth for a medical conference. Then they get the distress call from Ajilon Prime. Maybe Wesley could counter the Klingons' transporter dampening field, allowing more humans to escape. In the end, Jake will be plucked out of the rubble all scuffed up and dirty, Bashir will be so exhausted he's in a near zombie-like state, while Wesley will be pristine and cheerful asking, what should we do next? Ummmm... maybe KILL "the boy"?!?!?! hahahaha

This.

Based on his past career aboard the Enterprise the episode would have ended with all of the Klingons leaving the planet, and no dead humans, including the ones who had been dead when he arrived...
