Are there Sports in the 23rd Century?

I would like to think they were continued into the 23rd century. Hopefully, the same mankind which cooperated to reach warp drive space travel would cooperate in friendly competition.

According to Memory Alpha, Uhura sets records running the 100 meter dash. They don't specify in what kind of venue, but, speculating from that bit of information, there probably is still competitive sports. Maybe the sports are altered a bit to accommodate different races of beings as well.

Chess and Tri-Chess are clearly competitive games and therefore rightly considered "sports".

Also my Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise shows a bowling alley as part of F deck.

Wasn't Picard the youngest cadet to win the acadamy marathon or something like that...

she was a gymnast, dunno if she was an Olympic one...

'soccer' survives in the 24C, so presumably was also played in the 23C.

ETA: Okay, Emony was an Olympic gymnast. I forgot Take Me Out to the Holosuite.

Since when was chess a sport?

Don't forget Pirizzi Squares, Harry was a master in the academy and the Doctor's daughter "died" playing it.

The only Pirizzi squares we have mention of has been in the 24th century. We don't know when it was invented.
