Dune - To Be Directed by Pierre Morel (Taken)

I was wondering when we'd get some news about this film.

Somewhat off-topic, but...I'd always heard Variety was a professional publication. Can't they hire writers who use complete sentences?

Muad'Dib: "I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have honed after drinking the Water of Life. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my son go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."

Perhaps this means we'll get the Sci-Fi Channel Original Miniseries version on Blu-Ray. As I rather like that version, that's all that it will take to count this version as a win. And if this latest version is, you know, good, all the better. But how will they possibly due the novel justice in less than six hours? Even the miniseries cut things out.

What's so funny?

I was wondering when we'd hear something about this. So Berg is out, hm? Haven't seen Taken, so I'm not really familiar with Morel's work... but I'll hope for the best.

Both Lynch's film and the mini-series had some good points, but neither one of them quite hit the mark. If the third time's the charm, maybe we'll finally have a worthy and satisfying adaptation of Dune.
