Demon's Souls

Everyone everywhere is raving about this game. It's multiplayer is being hailed as revolutionary. And many other things are being said about it.

So I bought it tonight.

Who else is playing this epic game?

I don't know a whole lot about this game, just that it's known for it's difficulty and how you need to be careful with your build.


I have it sitting in my drive, but I'm being lazy and not playing it yet.

I've heard it's difficult because it's cheap and requires a lot of trial and error, not because it's challenging, and there's a difference. None of the obstacles themselves are difficult to overcome, you're simply put into a lot of situations where you'd have to be clairvoyant to overcome them the first time around.

I bought it because I knew it would be rare, but the punishing difficulty and the sense of "you're a pussy if you can't finish this game" that comes from the community scares me.

The fact that someone can come into your game and just kill you for fun is kind of off putting as well.

I'm not going to consider buying this game until someone explains to me how the title "Demon's Souls" is grammatically correct. Are you a demon with many souls... is uhh... that what it means? I don't fucking get it!

Wow, I'm really diggin this game. Really liking the fight system.

I will say this, people were right, blocking is useless, dodge over block if you want to stay alive. But, if you can time a parry right, the payoff is worth it.

The fact that someone can come into your game and just kill you for fun is kind of off putting as well.

Pretty sure the pvp stuff is all coordinated by your levels.

I don't think you're going to be level 20 and have a level 105 come in and slash your face off.

I'm just imagining all the griefing possibilities. I'd hope that people aren't assholes - especially since this is a largely impenetrable Japanese game - but you never know.

That makes no sense! Aren't you killing all sorts of demons, collecting their souls? Or are these monsters normal animals corrupted by a demon's soul? In which case you'd only be collecting parts of a single soul when you think about it. Anyway you want to slice it, I'm calling bullshit!

There's this demon that kills people and collects/corrupts their souls, so you, in both the real world and the nexus, kill the corrupted whatever and take their souls.

After playing it a lot more, it's not that it's cheap. The game is just brutal and unforgiving of mistakes. It's not casual gamers whatsoever.

If you're into it, you're really into it. You'll know by the first level if the game is to your liking or not.

I'm picking this up in a couple of weeks, right after I get Dragon Age Origins, which I already have on PC but I want to play it from my couch so getting on PS3.

Demon's Souls is not everyone's game as it needs lots of time, ambition and patience to clear the all stages of game. There is lot more to play in the game and one will definitely enjoy the awesome graphics and creatures in the game.
