Would it be on Blu-ray or DVD?
Since your post was so short I'll assume you are considering making a purchase for yourself and that it is on DVD.
The first 6 feature films or The Next Generation - The Complete Series ?
Star Trek: The Next Generation - The Complete Series (20th Anniversary Edition) (2007 release/ 49 discs)
in a series of 3 green plastic binders
Price: $319.99 at Amazon.com
$286.48 at Sam's Club website.
Star Trek: The Motion Pictures DVD Collection 10 films (Spec. Col. Editions)
20-disc set for $84.00 online.
It comes down to the amount of money you want to spend right now. It is either about $100 or $300. new so there is a huge price difference. Also it depends if you are a huge TNG fan or not. Personally I'm not.
Alternatively you could purchase Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection on Blu-ray
Price: $64.99 at Amazon.com
(first 6 films only)
and also purchase a $100-$150. Blu-ray player (with BD-Live Profile 2.0).
It should be able to downconvert to play on a standard TV and you'll be set for down the road.
This is what I would do.
The best thing we ever got out of TNG was DS9.
I think he might be asking if we had to choose between the TOS movies or TNG existing which would we keep.
How about TOS vs DS9?But you haven't really given me a tough choice.
Sorry, Spock, but the choice is very easy and I can't change it even for you. At least now you'll have more time to visit a certain space station more often. How about TOS vs DS9?But you haven't really given me a tough choice.![]()
TNG. Definitely.
Now, if the question were about keeping TOS itself, rather than the TOS movies, then I'd have to think about it. But the TOS movies, as good as some of them are, are only six stories. With TNG you have, what, over 200 stories? Even accounting for the fact that some of them are clunkers, that's still a good chunk of entertainment there.
I would happily trade all of TNG for just TMP, but if you're going to let me keep ST2 through ST6 as well, then cool!
Everytime I watch TNG now, after a break of not seeing it much over the past couple years, I am reminded how absolutely great a show it is. YMMV, of course.Meh. I doubt I could find six TNG episodes that I could sit through again.
That's not a tough choice at all. DS9 all the way.The movies. TNG hasn't aged well. But you haven't really given me a tough choice. How about TOS vs DS9?
