Seriously, I can't eat enough of these.

As a special "pre-Christmas" present my mom gave me a smallish tin full of my favorite candy item ever.

White-Chocolate Covered Pretzels. Ohhhhhh-hohoho man!

:D I am making these as Christmas treats for family and friends this weekend. I'm like you about them; if I have them around me, I want to eat them all! I'll have to exercise some restraint to make sure they make it into the treat containers and out of my kitchen.

I tried making a sugar free version, but the coating came out like styrofoam, so back to the drawing board.

J.

You know what chocolates I love the most? Ferrero Rochers. I could NEVER have too many of those...

My mom is a 6th grade teacher and she frequently gets gifts from her students... and the vast majority of these gifts are in the form of candy. Which typically gets mostly eaten by me when I visit for the holidays. Which is next week! Woo!

Last year, one of her students gave her semi-homemade candy... it appeared to be something like chex mix covered in chocolate. It was by far the best tasting of the lot and I ate them way too fast

Muddy buddies? Chex covered in chocolate and covered with powdered sugar? My mom used to make those for us, they're so good!

She didn't buy them off some guy named Brodie, did she? ;)

This is my first Christmas with Type II Diabetes. I'm having to be very careful. Unfortunately, it just isn't Christmas for me unless there's eggnog. I tore through a 16 oz. bottle of it over four days. I guess that's not too bad. I used to be a big fan of Divinity, too.... and candy corn...and Hershey's Kisses...and M&Ms...

Gee, I wonder how I got Diabetes.

I think Divinity may be a Southern thing. I live in the South, but none of my friends who live elsewhere know anything about it.

It's delicious, but for me, it must have pecans in it. Otherwise, it's sweet overload. The pecans give it crunch and balance out the sugar-- as startrekwatcher said, it is decadent!

My grandmother always used to use black walnuts in divinity. I remember both liking and hating it - liking the sweet, but hating the bitter nuts. Now I don't think I could stand it. Divinity is VERY sweet.

It's not Christmas without a tin of Quality Street

I miss some of the older variants though - the old red-wrapper strawberry choc was much better than the new one, and I miss the original brazil nut purple one. The lack of a coffee creme is just shocking. But I don't miss the peanut blue-wrappers. And I'm sure I lost a milk tooth or two a little early to the sticky, chewy ravages of the yellow toffee pennies!

If they ever fuck with the green triangle, I'm boycotting them though. :D
