Fox TV's New Minstrel Show

Nothing bad ever happens to Sharpton after he spouts off racist stuff, yet he's calling Rush Limbaugh divisive (pot or kettle?) and aiding Don Imus on racial harmony. Limbaugh and Sharpton are the same, so why can only one of them be called out on the things they say?
I wouldn't say that.
He doesn't have the support of the African)American community as many think he does. However, let's not forget he got his ass handed to him over the Twanna Brawley case.

The problem is Al Sharpton gets the spotlight because the NAACP fails to do anything it was designed for. So Sharpton fills that void whether we want him too or not. Jesse Jackson was supposed to be that person because he personally knew MLK, so the Black community looked to him to carry on that mantel. Who knew he'd turn out to be such an idiot?

However, be thankful it's Sharpton I guess because it could have been Farrakhan. So in order words, no matter how you roll the dice, you still end up with craps.

How dare they depict black people in a negative light! I'm glad that I only watch shows like Dexter, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Big Love and The Tudors, which depict white people being utterly despicable and reprehensible beyond belief.

And none of which depend upon invidious and widely-known stereotypes of white people as a group for their humor or plausibility. You know the difference, and shame on you.

There are few things more pathetic than whites maundering about "reverse racism."

So you took the time to look up Mel Brooks, which wasn't the main point but didn't bother at all with the real point, which was the double standard or why shows the have Black stereotypes do better than those with a positive Black image.

I've seen no main point as such. You brought up Blazing Saddles and proceeded to completely misrepresent the film. I sought to correct that. I'm not particularly interested in debating you any further. It's obvious you've made up your mind on the subject.

Heaven forbid anybody misrepresent Blazing Saddles!!!!!! That's so much more important than the misrepresentation & stereotyping of a race or culture. My God, what was I thinking?

If "Blazing Saddles" were made today, do you think people would still find it smart or would the PC world be offended?
It would never get close to being made today as it was back then. Racism is only acceptable if it's against white people because that's the new trend, instead of racism being flat out wrong in any instance as it should be.
If racism against Whites is acceptable, then why are we here talking about racism & stereotypes in shows were the majority of the cast is Black?
Because we're cherry-picking our stereotypes? I even mentioned earlier in the thread the redneck stereotype in this very series. And Family Guy is one big stereotype after another. You can't watch an episode of it without seeing a stereotype of some group in it. It's racist, sexist, and every other "ist" you can think of but most of them are ignored in favor of crying foul that Cleaveland has his own series to be a stereotype in. If they'd done Quagmire (a sterotype unto himself) we wouldn't be hearing so much of it even though he's arguably as bad or worse. Or Joe, the handicapped police officer. Or Mort the Jewish pharmacist. How about Lois' rich parents? Every single character on Family Guy is a stereotype of some sort but since most of them are white, no one cares.

While I'm not Mcfarlane biggest fan and not to crazy at the heavy handed way he pushes his politics on his shows,I do think it a little much to say The Cleveland Show is a "minstrel" show it's stereotypes are no worse then any other show.

Frankly out of the 3 Mcfarlaneverse shows I think TCS is the least offensive in it's stereotypes.

By the way am I the first person to use the term Mcfarlaneverse?
