Sexy Vulcan Women of Star Trek - T'Pol and Saavik

I thought Kirstie Alley looked great, especially during the turbolift scene when she was out of her duty uniform and her hair was down.

As for Jolene, that pic above is one of the best I've ever seen of her. She looks more natural and not plastic and emaciated which is what she looks like in most of her pics. And about the long hair on T'Pol, I speculated early on in the series that they'd let it get longer toward the end and that she'd have a more human disposition. Unfortunately the show got cancelled before that happened, but it was going in that direction wasn't it?

Longer hair is not a Vulcan disposition as you imply. We've seen Vulcan women with long hair in TOS Amok Time, and in some of the movies IIRC.

The only reason why T'Pol and every other Vulcan since TNG has Spock hair, is because the producers decided that every member of species that is not Human has to look, talk, and think EXACTLY the same, right down to the hair. And of course, of the same token, we can have no other species (even if they are the same species, aka Romulans) look like any other species.

And why? Well, audiences are stupid, you see, you couldn't possibly expect them to understand when a member of a species doesn't look exactly the same is still a member of that species, right? And one organization/culture being an offshot of another species? God forbid! They'll be completely confused if we don't make it clear!

3D:

Yes, I agree with you that making all members of a species look so much alike is boring. There may be a practical budgetary reason: Having wigs of the same type means the costumers know exactly what to stick on the heads of the actors. Guess you could also call it creative laziness.

As I recall, though, there are two Vulcans who don't fit the Spock/Sarek mold: Tuvok and T'Pol.

They pretty much kept Tim Russ's natural hair and just cut it short, instead of slapping a wig on his dome.

And while T'Pol did wear a wig, her hair color and skin tone was different than that of most Vulcans we've seen before.

If the budgetary challenged TOS could have different hairdos for Vulcans, why can't the much less budgetary challenged later series? In the same token, even if that were the reason for the shows, why do we see the same pattern for aliens of the movies?

The simple fact is, it's not what this is about. Every alien species has to be the same for the producers twisted reasons, and they're not budgetary.

Indeed, look at B5, less budget than Star Trek, and each alien from a species is different, different skin tones and blodge patterns, different hairdo, shorter, longer. Each member of a species had slightly different make-up and prosthetics, each Centauri had different hairdo, and they weren't wearing wigs most of the time from what I can tell. Doing the hair like that costs more time, energy and money than sticking a wig on them, and the budgetary challenged show pulled it off, but Star Trek didn't. So it's got nothing to do with budget.

Indeed, if the aliens do NOT have the same hairdos, there's also no such problem with "knowing exactly what to stick on the heads", because every actor would be DIFFERENT, so if there even was a wig that went on there, it doesn't really matter if you got the wrong one, unless they're so blatantly wrong (like a white wig for Andorians on a Vulcan or some such), but then it's obvious and it never occurs.

And while T'Pol did wear a wig, her hair color and skin tone was different than that of most Vulcans we've seen before.
I don't care about the color, it's the style that's the problem. It's the problem that it's a wig in the first place. Which rather disagrees with it being budgetary reasons. They could have simply used her own hair.

And the producers were wrong? You must be unaware of the stink kicked up around here by the fans when T'Pol didn't act the same as all other Vulcans.

Or the even bigger stink when they cast African-American Tim Russ to play Tuvok in VOY. Fanboy squeals of, "Hey, there aren't any BLACK Vulcans! Wahhh!" -- RR

3D: Maybe the generic look for races like Vulcans was laziness! After all, haven't many of us complained about the preponderance of the "forehead alien of the week," when it came to depicting different races? -- RR

Not sure why people complain about her looks!

Absolutely gorgeous as usual. Starting from season 3 of ENT, Jolene's T'Pol was the best looking regular female character in all of Trek with the possible exception of Jeri Ryan's Seven of Nine. That includes the movies and ALL of the T.V. shows.

She is gorgeous. I hate the lip job. I'm sure she would've looked just as beautiful without it but I sure some slime ball convinced her.

Was that an actually quote from Enterprise when Archer said "I'm doing the breast I can."? Or was that a blooper?

Sadly, it was a quote.

Archer was fatigued and keeping vigil on his sick dog in sickbay and is dealing with emotions concerning T'Pol and his "sexual tension"... or something. And he has a Freudian slip over best/breast. He has another than doesn't come to mind right now but it's just as bad if not worse.

That's a shame Star Trek would stoop so low for a cheap laugh. :(

What I don't understand is why do it with Vulcans when they don't do it with Klingons. You see a variety of hair on Klingons.

They do? They seem to be no more diversity in Klingon hair than in Vulcan hair. They all got it lose and long over the shoulders.

Short. Long. Partially bald. Worf in a ponytail. Various beards and sideburns. Klingons get a lot of variety.

Sorry to join this discussion so late but one Vulcan female I found was quite attractive was the Vulcan Captain in DS9's "Vortex".

The Vulcan had straight down hair because from their viewpoint there is no logic in personal aesthetics. In universe T'pol was wearing no makeup, she just looked that way, she combed her hair, that was it. T'Pring's look was different, but she was at a traditional ceremony. T'Pring has my vote for sexist Vulcan -- bad girls win.

my other favorite hot Vulcan has to be Sakonna, the Maquis from the DSN ep introducing that rebel group, played by Bertila Damas. Man, she was smoking!

Yep, she was probably the hottest female Vulcan they've ever shown. T'Pring was too much of a scrawny, nasty beeotch. :wtf:

Most of the stink I remember came from the disappointment that they had a cool idea - Vulcan "babysitter" for the first Starfleet mission - and insisted on turning her into a catsuited knockoff of Seven of Nine.

That combined with the miscasting of Archer is probably what turned off a lot of people immediately. How about this instead:

Archer played by someone with a convincing commanding presence (Gary Cole or the like) and with no crybabish beef that the Vulcans didn't give his daddy their technology.

T'Pol played by someone like Bertila Damas, who has the whole Vulcan schitck down cold. Costume her in a manner that doesn't turn her into an immediate joke/unwelcome reminder of VOY. (What Sakonna was wearing in DS9 - not exactly a chador ;) - would work fine.) Then allow her relationship with Archer - and her understanding that humans aren't simply foolish children - to evolve naturally. For frak's sake, don't be puerile and shove the sex in our face until the character growth leads to that in a natural manner. Contrivance isn't sexy.

^Yeah, Sakonna wins.

say what you want about Ms. Jolene but she is white hot.

Perfect body (maybe a little on the thin side), muscular, toned and a great rack.

I prefer a rack not made by man.
I'm sure there are female plastic surgeons.:shifty:

I didn't mind the wig so much, but then I like short hair on women anyhow. I do agree that much could have been done to make it a bit more pleasant.

One of the greatest crimes the Enterprise production crew ever did: stuffing Jolene's magnificent, beautiful, strokeable hair underneath a Spock wig.

Either way, I'll take it.

Having her in a regular duty uniform would've helped too. Her "catsuit" was ridiculous.

BOOOO, if she wore a uniform, there'd be less to see....that's blasphemous. :scream:

Yesh....thin side's good for me. Living in the midwest, 90% of the chicks here are, as the good 'ol boys over here say, "Corn-fed". :angryrazz: No thank you, gimme lean, fit, and toned muscles any day. That's how this gym rat likes it. :bolian:

We do not know this. There is no reason whatsoever to think that female Vulcans do not wear makeup or purposefully seek to make themselves more aesthetically pleasing or sexually attractive. After all, real cultures are often full of contradictions like that. Seems to me that if it looks like makeup, it's probably makeup.

I tend to agree. Vulcans surely care about their appearance, apparently even more so that humans, since we never saw a disheveled or a less-than-manicured Vulcan: males shave, females wear makeup, and everybody keep their hair tidy and well combed. There are plenty of logical reason to appear good, from a personal and professional point of view. Besides, things like personal appearance and physical attractiveness are probably somewhat genetically codified and culturally antecedent to the teaching of Surak, so they predate and transcend the usual Vulcan utilitarian philosophy. Probably heavy makeup or skimpy dresses are frowned upon, but it there is nothing inherently illogical in looking good.

This looks like makeup to me. Unless she naturally has blue shadow around the corner of their eyes. ;) Like Spock in TOS... :p

Ah, but remember - Vulcans have a high regard for art and beauty. Perhaps it is not logical, but it is there.

I still Robin Curtis was sexier than Kirstie Alley, although that scene where she gets on the elevator with Kirk was pretty sweet.

The aliens with exactly matching hairstyles and wardrobes is one of the most annoying Trek issues. I suppose they just presumed that the audience was too stupid to understand any variation. In a perfect scifi alien world there would be many different cultures, languages and ways of wearing one's hair - I understand they can't really make it that complicated but what we mostly got was just dumb.
