Also, looking at your AV, I can't help confessing that I'm such a huge Trek Geek that I can remember sitting in the theater the first time I saw TWOK and absolutely falling head over heels for Saavik/Kirsty Alley ... and I'm gay!

:rommie:

I guess Robin Curtis did not affect you the same way?

Robin Curtis is the reason I'm gay.

[Larry the Cable Guy]I'm sorry for that right there, Lord[/Larry the Cable Guy] :p

*EDIT* p.s. - for the record, I meant no harm to Robin Curtis at all; I just went for the obvious laugh line. In case she lurks on TBBS. ;)

I am also hardwired for gay, but I can appreciate a beautiful woman as much as the next guy. Kirsty nor Robin ever did it for me, though. Zoe Saldana as Uhura was hot... like young Nichelle was!

Love TOS, love the movie.

I'm was a science fiction fan first. I got my fix watching TNG as a little shitlen (as well as he movies). I watched only the first season of DS9 (never liked any Klingon except Worf), and all but the last few seasons of Voyager (around the point Seven of Nine and the Borg came in). I quickly lost interest in ENT, so I turned to classic Star Trek for my sci fi fix, and discovered that unlike the other series I had no reservations about enjoying it (the campyness and soimetimes bad writing [which meant death for TNG] only added its charm), and I watch classic episodes to this day. So now when ever I think about Star Trek, I think about The Original Series "and then the rest".

I was raised on TNG and it is the most familiar star trek to me. I like XI and had been pretty apathetic towards TOS until I saw this movie. I had seen all the TOS episodes several times but was never really interested in them until this movie came out.

I have a follow-up question. It doesn't seem quite clear from your post; have you watched the TOS episodes again since seeing the movie, and if so, did you like them more than before?

The figures are panning out as I expected. The majority of TOS fans enjoyed the movie.

Well, if I may play devil's advocate, I think that the majority of people who would be in the Star Trek XI board (since I understand that most of the bashers have gone home) would be people who enjoyed the movie. I'm more interested in how the percentages of TOS fans who did or didn't enjoy the movie stacks up against non-TOS fans.
At the moment, 81% of TOS fans enjoyed the movie, and 90% of non-TOS fans did. Although, the total of 11 votes for non-TOS fans is still way too low to be considered even remotely scientific.

DS9 is my favourite Trek (closely followed by TNG and TOS, which I like equally) and I thought the movie was awful on the whole, and only somewhat enjoyable if you turn your brain off and watch it at the cinema.

Agreed re: Zoe Saldana. Rowr!

I grew up on the Trek movies, and TOS in reruns on TV.

Loved the movie, and greatly enjoyed TNG thru VOY, ENT's last season did some great things, Nemesis was okay but disappointing.

In many ways, this movie was the closest to what TOS actually was of any of the movies.

I've been a TOS fan since the early '70s; it is my favorite Trek series by leaps and bounds. I was one of those who was totally against recasting the characters when it was suggested a few years back.

I loved the movie.

I had real high expectations for the film but alas, it was not to be. It fell flat in all departments. With the only exception being the actors, who did a good job... all things being equal.

I loved Star Trek.

First watched TOS when I was 8 and been a huge fan ever since.

Its not my favorite though, that would be DS9, but TOS was always a close second for me.

Course, me loving this movie might be easier because I always felt that it was inevitable that someone would recast the TOS crew. They're too good to tie to one group of actors.

I like TOS, but it is not my favorite. DS9 is my favorite.

So I voted for option #3.

But I don't know...it's kind of not really accurate, because I do very much consider myself to be a TOS fan.

I am a huge fan of TOS, but LOVE LOVE LOVE this reboot! Especially McCoy and Scotty! Scotty is funny, which is awesome. "get us out of here Scotty....You bet your ass Captain!" Great Stuff!

As for me I love both TOS and the new movie. I already loved Star Trek way before the new movie came out. I have been a fan of Star Trek since was young, and have loved all the shows and movies except for DS9, for years. TOS was my favorite Star Trek show when I was young, and then TNG became my favorite. So I kind of switched between what shows and movies I liked the best over the years, but TOS and TNG was the ones I always liked the best of all the shows, that hasnt changed at all. I know after I saw the new movie, TOS became my most favorite Star Trek show all over again. So I love TOS and TNG but I also love the new movie. But now my most favorite now is TOS and the new movie.

I'm quite young compared to some dinosaurs around here :p:p, just 25.
But I've been watching & loving TOS since I was 5 thanks to my dad.

And I still liked the new movie very much.:bolian:
