When I left for work this morning, around 7:20, there were three inches or so of slush on the ground and it was raining. I got to the end of the subway line and waited about 20 minutes for a bus (it was scheduled to arrive five minutes after I did). It then took over an hour to make what is normally a 25-minute trip. I got off the bus, walked to the corner and noted what appeared to be about two or three inches of water in the gutter. I decided to just step into it and bear my feet getting a bit damp... and discovered too late that the water was actually up to my thighs.

I'm not sure how that's possible - the road isn't that far below the sidewalk, and I didn't think I was standing on a pile of snow before stepping down. But that area of Mississauga has terrible drainage - the parking lot behind my office turns into a lake whenever it rains.
Oh, and I was then soaked by an 18-wheeler going through the intersection at full speed.
My feet finally started to feel a bit dry around 4:30, thanks to having my shoes off whenever I was actually at my desk.
I think that tomorrow I'll be wearing my boots, and I'll put an extra pair of socks into my backpack.
Mind you, it could probably be worse - I remember one day last winter when we got about three feet of snow, and the bus I was on got stuck on ice. The driver kicked us off between stops, and while walking back to the previous stop, I couldn't tell whether I was on the sidewalk or the road. At least where I work now, the walk between the office and the bus stop is shorter and it's completely paved.
