The Braves have designated Ryan Church for assignment.

So... we got rid of a guy that was doing mediocre to have another mediocre guy who now has no trade value. Nice.

Granderson likely on his way to the Yanks in a 3-way deal for a couple middle of the road pitching prospects. Good move to shore up the outfield. I like him as a player.

I say resign Damon to play left, and Melky is your fourth OF when he someone needs a day off.

Get Damon out of the outfield because he's lazy and crappy, keep him at DH, say farewell to Matsui, bump Melky to left, and Granderson in center.

But who knows what will happen with Damon's agent wanting that big contract.

Eh, he was going to be gone either way. He's a class act and was a fantastic third baseman, and I hope he gets past his recent injury woes and does well in Texas. I'm more curious as to where this trade is going to lead the Red Sox.

Ditto. Mike just hasn't been himself the last couple of seasons, and while I'm sad to see him go, I'm curious to see what the Sox get in return.

I'm more curious to see if Jason Bay stays with the Sox or lets greed get the better of him. The Sox could use another big bat in the lineup.

Well John Lackey is taking a physical for the Red Sox, an indication a deal is close.

Im honestly surprised they are going this way, figuring that they would have rather gone after a Holliday type. But I guess I was wrong.

And the Yankees are not involved. That's great news, even though Lackey to the Red Sox is a bit scary. At least Halladay didn't go to New York, like what I heard as speculation.

I really think the Gonzalez for Buchholz swap talks are gonna start heating up over the next week.

Yeah, I'm just glad we didn't lose him to New York or Boston. That would have been ugly.

And hopefully we get a nice corps of new youngsters out of the deal, but it sucks to be "rebuilding" yet again...

You got to love the people on the Toronto Star website, some of which are saying they'll never go to a Jays game again, some wishing for the team to be moved to America, and the whole lot putting down people calling this a good trade.

The Jays aren't even close to contending. If we were a player or two away, maybe this trade can be criticized, but that is not the case.
