NFL Football 2009

Yes, the first goal is to win your division. But that first round bye and hosting a second round game is mighty fine too.

The Pats worry me until they can beat a quality team on the road.

Patriots are looking pretty done if they can't beat either the Colts or the Saints.

Dear Bears,

Fire every single coach and player who doesn't wear 6, 13, 33, or 55. This was some of the worst football I have ever seen. Good thing we have all those draft picks next year ... oh, wait.

Honestly, I was expecting you to get clobbered by a wrecking ball today, but holy shit. You've had one good game all year, and you're basically in extended preseason mode now. You fucking suck.

You are what we thought you were: Fucking terrible. Now you get to go beat up on the Rams, and you know what? You don't even deserve that.

Imagine being a ten-year-old boy. Now, imagine that it’s Christmas morning and you’re sitting under the tree with your final present to open. It’s a big one, and you know what it is. It’s a fucking Nintendo Wii. A motherfucking Wii. You're ten years old and you've been waiting all year to get that fucking Wii. That's how I felt at the start of this season. You went out and got a franchise quarterback, and I was ready for a season that wasn't a comedy of errors despite the presence of that unrelenting douchenozzle, Ron Turner. I had that childlike optimism. I was ready.

Except I opened that final present, and it wasn't a motherfucking Nintendo Wii. It was my cat. It was my fucking cat in the box, and it wasn't breathing and it was starting to slightly smell. That's how you assholes have treated me this year.

God damn it, I am so sick of your shit.

This has to be one of your best rants EVER. :guffaw:

I am in awe at the way Drew Brees is carving up the Patriots' defense Heck in the first half alone he was 11-13 229 yds, 3 TDs and no picks.

NFC TITLE GAME...
Vikings at the Saints....Vikings win...

SUPERBOWL

Chargers vs Vikings...Chargers win, 32-27

I doubt that the Chargers make the Super Bowl, but if it happens, I can almost guarentee that they are not good enough to beat either the Saints or the Vikings. Both are riding pretty bloody high and will plow right over the top of San Diego given the chance. In fact, I'm willing to go so far to say that not only is the AFC wide open for any of the top contenders (Indy, Cin, NE, SD, Pitt, or Den [assuming they can keep their newly refound game 2-6 and game 11 form up]), but that the NFC will win this year. I think the NFC championship will be a high-scoring, high-flying, very close affair between Minn and NO, and whoever makes it will drub the AFC contender. No team in the league looks anywhere near as good as those two.

I'll agree with your prediction for the AFC, but the NFC? Nah. The Vikes will either go out in the first round or they'll be beaten by the Packers (who'll get in via the wild card) in the second round.

SUPERBOWL

New Orleans vs. Chargers...New Orleans wins 34-27.

The Vikings are very unlikely to be playing in the first round, as they're nearly a lock to get a first round bye. To miss the first round bye, they would most likely have to lose 3 of their last 5 games. Considering that they've won 10 of their last 11, that doesn't seem very likely.

Seriously, can they win just one road game on this continent already!

The Pats will get a home game in the playoffs, probably beat a wild card, then bow out against Indy or SD. I have little faith in them at this point.

I'd love to see a Saints-Colts superbowl if the Pats get bounced.

The NFC will NOT win the superbowl. The NFC East has been exposed, and the Vikings have an easy schedule. Patriots, Colts, Chargers, one of those three will go...and take down the Vikings or Saints.

Time will tell...

I am a Charger fan, and even I have learned to never count the Patriots out. If they get hot, and thats all it takes (Steelers last year, Giants the year before) they can put a string together. Brady/Bellichick are a hefty combo!

I find it interesting that except for one post the COLTS, you know the other 11-0 team, is being overlooked(disrespected?).

I know the COLTS have seemingly been trying to lose a game for the last few weeks(maybe this Sunday;)) but even should they lose one like the Vikes have they are strong contenders for a SuperBowl shot.

Who I like:
NFC Championship: Cardinals vs Vikings
AFC Championship: Colts vs Patriots
SuperBowl: Vikings vs Colts - winner Vikings

Brett retires, for real this time, going out on top.

No, they aren't being disrespected in the least. The problem is that while they are 11-0... it's how they've gone about it that makes folks hold back a bit. It's an impressive thing to win 5 straight after trailing in the 4th quarter.... but that's living on the edge. If they had been ahead in more of those, then there'd be less concern. On top of that, the running game hasn't produced all that much up until this last game. New Orleans and Minnesota have had much more balanced attacks this season. The Colts have also won games where the other team self-destructed (Texans, Pats) ... which while it's always good to win the implication is there that it was more the other team lost.

It's not disrespect, so much as it's imho justifiable concern. No team in its right mind disrespects any team with Peyton Mannign at the wheel.

The great thing about this game? You never know. Look at the Giants, and how they knocked of the Patriots two years ago. No one gave them a chance, and they were 9.5 point underdogs. You just never know.

I think it could come down to depth. What happens if the Saints were to lose Brees (a former Charger I might add) or the Farve went down for the Vikings, or Rivers for the Chargers, or Manning?...who knows? But depth at the key positions could be what decides it all...

or...as John Madden would say..

"The team that scores the most will generally win the game"...huh?

Rob

I'll reserve judgment on the Colts until January. They start like this every year, and many years have imploded in the playoffs.

if my chargers fail to get there, then I will, PERISH THE THOUGHT, I will cheer for Farve. I got his autograph years ago, and he was cool about it.

Now..if it is the Vikings VS Chargers? BRETT FARVE must be pulverized!!!
